Have to give credit to SP who called us back this morning at the exact time we booked. Were advised to wait until current plan expires and ring again on 1 March - so will be booking another 'call-back' :cool:0

not sure what the benefits are to you waiting till 1st March.
Surely it is in your interests to have an idea of future costs with SP now. You may decide that none are favourable to you and wish to transfer to another company which can take 4-6 weeks.
Armed with the info you can still wait till 1st March to change to another plan with SP if you decide to stay with them.0 -

Should have said, have already done comparisons and decided to go with SP OES12 - we are only with them for electricity as no mains gas available in our rural area .......0 -
Well, I took the plunge, and have gone with Ovo Fixed electricity and npower SOL 21 for gas, as discussed above.
Hoping for 17.50 cashback from Moneysupermarket and £15 from Energyhelpline. Didn't fancy Topcashback's £20.20 for npower in the end, having read the comments about delays on TCB's own site, because I only intend to stick with npower for 6 months or so anyway.
Can't believe I've signed up for npower, as I know they are complete plonkers, but there ya go. Fingers and everything else crossed.
I have discovered that Energyhelpline's calculations are a bit wayward. My own spreadsheets agree almost exactly with Energylinx, so I will put more trust in them from now on.
Good luck to all.
I too have the fixed SP Feb 2011 package and today have applied to OVO. However am very concerned that I can only find negative views about them. So many say avoid at all costs.
I am now thinking about staying with SP and paying an extra 12 pounds stg per month for their capped deal.0 -

There are quite a few (positive) threads on here about Ovo. I switched in October and have had no problems to date. Straightforward billing, and it's simple to enter meter readings on the website.0 -

Thanks for reply. Can you view the bills online like SP. Also I have read they change the dd without notice.0 -
Yes, bills can be viewed online and are downloadable. I have had no experience of dd change without notice although I do recall one poster saying that. Think it will depend on the accuracy of the initial information you provide re annual usage and how that ties in with the monthly meter readings entered on the website. Have a look at this thread re 6 monthly dd review.

I am very reluctant to leave SP because of their excellent service but I am going to give OVO a try. I am only tied in for 12 months and can always transfer out after that time.
Appreciate all your help.0 -
No problem, hope it works out. I had no particular reason to leave SP either but I was saving money over the 12 months.0

I'm a bit confused now.Like several of you on here,i decided that the online energy saver 12 dual fuel was the best one to change to.,from the fixed Feb 2011 package. The gas works out cheaper and the electric a bit more expensive but i thought after over 2 years there would be a lot more to pay,so am pleased with that.
I requested a call back and it was spot on.No trouble getting it and when she asked where i had heard about it,and i said "here" she didn't sound surprised! Took the readings over the phone and said it would be dealt with today. As i have been in credit every time i get a bill i asked for the amount per month to be reduced, but instead she said it worked out dearer  I questioned that logic but she reckoned it was because having calculated what i owed after the last couple of cold months, the gas bill was much higher and ate up most of the credit.Yes i do use a fair bit more electric than gas but according to most of you, your monthly payements appear to have been reduced!
I am thinking of waiting until it is all calculated and appears online ,then getting them to call again and explain it! Can anyone meanwhile throw any light as to why this may have been?0
