Yet, you're moaning how unfair it would be if some disabled people got this fuel rebate.

No, I'm simply asking why EVERYONE shouldn't get a reduction. Why just the disabled?

Is it reasonable for the disabled person to have to pay the extra? If they weren't disabled, they wouldn't have to.

I thought the benefits a disabled person receives were to help with these extra expenses?

They are free and if you are entitled to one then you'd have one surely?

So why should the fuel be any different to everyone else?

I live in a rural area with no bus service within 3 miles, is it really feasable for me to walk that with a 2 year old, then drag a weeks worth of shopping back the same way. So no it isn't a choice. With regards to taxis, there are many which are wheelchair accessible.

Why can't you use the train?

you see you live in a rural area , the type of place that the goverment are looking at reducing tax on fuel for everyone,
the goverment are looking into this because the rural constituants have been "moaning" to there mps for years because of the extra costs involved with transport.

now the disabled need to "moan" to there mps to show they have extra costs too,

    i am rural and disabled

They don't go that far. It cost me about £17 to get from work for 4 days at the end of last year. I don'e live that far from work either.

Wheelchair users and only wheelchair users who have the car adapted pre delivery are entitled by law to buy a car 0 rated for VAT and that car remains 0 rated for VAT as long as the wheelchair user owns the car or if the next owner is also a wheelchair user (mostly applicable to secondhand WAVs), 0 rating for VAT means that the oil, tyres, anti freeze and every other consumable/or damaged part (including accident damage) is purchased/payed for 0 rated for VAT so why should petrol/diesel be diffrent?

My merc with all its toys was 0 rated for VAT, so was my second Merc and so was my Grand Voyager (top of the range) along with everything I ever bought for them 0 rated for VAT apart from fuel.

I have been assessed as needing a drive from wheelchair WAV which costs over 40k for the cheapest one and I have to pay for that, no help at all apart from that I could pay 28k and get the car on motability leaving me with nothing after the five year hire term.

It must be very nice if like jblack's dad I could just pay £150 and have a nice car for the £50 pw I get HRMC but thats for the walking wounded only, wheelchair users need bigger cars and adaptions to drive and we have to pay for them (apart from the most basic heand controls which are supplied by motability but they are no suitable for many people)

jblack can aslo choose where to live, try affording a bungalow or a house big enough to wheel around, DLA dont pay for that nor does anyone else, I do.

They're not free, they cost the entire amount of the higher mobility payment each month, plus advance payments and charges for excess mileage and any damage, therefore with 4 children, including 2 with behavioural problems, there was little chance of it being in a reasonable condition at the end of 3 years so we chose to buy our own car instead.

Before anyone starts on the "why did you have so many children then" argument, I had two pregnancies that resulted in 3 children during my first marriage and my husband has a child from his first marriage. So neither of us set out to have four.

Personally I think rural areas should have lower fuel prices anyway, and if that happened then we would be included in that, but in a town or city location then there would be more need for a disabled person to use a car than someone able bodied. (again, just my personal opinion)

And when my children were younger I had 3 within 13 months and yes it is possible to walk with toddlers (it was 5 miles to our shops) and walk back with the shopping. I went twice a week to keep the amount to be carried back down but it is possible.

Would you like to sit in a train carriage with two teens who are constantly shouting, twitching and making strange noises because they're stressed by the journey? Didn't think so, it's not fair on my sons to make them sit on a train for 8 hours and definitely not fair on the other passengers.

    Hope that is clearer?
