Why is it more important for those with disabilities to get cheaper fuel?

I need to use a vehicle to do my job (Not possible to use public transport due to tools etc) and do a lot of miles but I don't expect to be given special treatment.

With respect, many people on DLA get free vehicles, free tax, free insurance, taxi allowances, free bus travel etc.

Those who are crying out for reductions for the disabled are the same people who preach about not wanting special treatment, just to be treated as equals.

The simple fact of the matter is that fuel is getting stupidly expensive for EVERYONE and needs to be reduced/capped for EVERYONE.

i suggest you re read my threads,
the reduction for disabled is regarding bought from new vehcals and why they dont count fuel as vat free when the oil is vat free in the engine and all parts are vat free.
"cheaper fuel " means in general,
i;e lower fuel costs leaving more money to spend in shops on products to help bring more employment which will in turn create more tax payed, which in turn can start to pay of the massive debt the counrty is in

I don't get a taxi allowance, or a free car. The difference being that a non-disabled person can walk to their destination. And there are still many buses out there with steps - no good for someone with severe sight problems or limited mobility.

My Father has a motability car. He pays nothing for it. His DLA pays for it. Therefore it is free, the money doesn't come out of his pocket.

so you should get your vat back off the fuel that you have put into your free car that is taxed for free and serviced for free, whilst the rest of us who are struggling to even keep our cars on the road carry on paying it? I need my car for work so i can pay tax's to give to the government who inturn help those less fortunate out. Most are grateful for the free help they get but you sound greedy.

IT MIGHT SEEM LIKE £199 / MONTH UNTILL YOU READ THE SMALL PRINT, £1087 DEPOSIT FIRST AND THEN ONLY AN AVERAGE OF 128 MILES PER WEEK ALLOWED, I FOR ONE DO AT LEAST TWICE THAT PER WEEK AND IM SURE A LOT OF OTHER DRIVERS DO TOO.
ALSO NOTE THIS IS THE BOG-STANDARD BASE MODEL 2 DOOR WHISC IS NOT PRACTICAL FOR EVERYONE.

It's already been pointed out to you that motobility cars aren't free but not all disabled people have motobility cars. We pay out for our car just the same as you do as it's used for the entire family and not just for me. So tax, insurance, upkeep etc all cost no different to everyone else. The main difference that you don't seem to be getting is that, if you decide to go shopping, for example, then you have the choice of driving or using public transport. For a lot of disabled people, myself included, there isn't a choice. Buses are either not within reach or it's not physically possible for them to be used and the vast majority of taxis either aren't capable of transporting disabled patrons and their equipment or the companies choose to claim they're not insured to do so.

I'd love to be able to pop onto a bus to the train station and get a train down to visit my family but that just isn't possible. The only choice we have is for my husband to drive me down, not the quickest and certainly not the cheapest option, but it's the only way it can be done. Hopefully we'll be able to afford it this year as I haven't seen them for 2 years already and my parents are in their 70s :(

Dont get me wrong im not having a go, all im trying to get across is that if people want a vat refund then it should be for all not just the disabled as we are feeling the pinch probably more than some realise, hours cut, wage cuts = less money to buy fuel in the first place.
