OK, a perfectly true story;
My Brother recently was taking his Wife to the local hospital for a cancer check, as he was leaving the dual carriageway, his front tyre blew out, he pulled over as far as he could on the slip road.
He is disabled, but started to try to change the wheel, a police car that was travelling in the opposite direction spotted him, turned around at the next junction and then pulled up behind him.
He explained the situation to the 2 police officers, one of them started to change the wheel for him, the other one radio'd for another police car.
A Panda car arrived and took his Wife on to the hospital, the first 2 officers changed the wheel for him.
Now they clearly did not have " attitude " did they?
The ones in the very similar story above did though.0 -

A weak response. No-one is disputing there are good coppers - you're simply assuming there are no coppers with attitude and are rubbishing peoples' views if they say anything negative about the police.0 -

*sigh*
Just because you have never had a bad experience with an arrogant copper, doesn't mean they don't exist.
I'm not saying all coppers are tools, but some of them are and there are plenty of people in this thread who would agree.0 -

I am not saying that they don't exist, the posts in this thread would appear to imply that they are in the majority, which in my experience, they are not.0 -
Ive had good and bad experiences of police. I often used to get pulled because i was driving a nice car, i got stopped nearly every weekend when i had a 2.0 hdi XSi 307 (it was brand new, 18" alloys, lots of chrome, gold in colour with black leather interior, and i was 21) and often got grilled on why it wasnt registered in my name and how i was insured to drive it (lease scheme through father's employer).
i then had a VW Bora which i bought when 22, and mainly got stopped for spt checks on insurance etc, then wrote that off.
then at 23 i bought a 2.2 diesel accord, it had 17" alloys and a spoiler, was a nice car. I often got stopped, and felt that most officers wanted to catch me out somehow... i would remain polite and courteous at all times. some police officers would change attitude and be cool back with me, and often complimentary about my car by the end of the conversation, but some would not give up, "thats a powerful car young man, do you find it quick?" "do you think that would be good for drag racing on the street with all that torque?" "what kind of work are you in to afford a flash car like that?" i never admitted to be it being "like s**t off a shovel," "great in a straight line, but a little wobbly in corners," or being a "well renown drug dealer who specialises in columbian produce..." to them, but kept polite and maintained that i was a sensible drive who appreciates a comfortable car...
I think some police start off with attitude because they always expect it back... its a tough job im sure.
however that being said, OP had done nothing wrong.0 -

Oh dear Inactive. I'm afraid the only one that seems to be coming across as having an attitude problem is you.
I'm 27, a female, and I seriously do not have any type of attitude problem at all.
Never been stopped before. Never had an accident that was my fault. I have 7 years NCB on a car and 8 years on motorbikes.
I was polite to her, I asnwered all her questions and was patient as she did her checks.
She was short, didn't want to listen and was very condescending to me.
I have previously been involved in a very nasty motorbike accident where I was hit from behind at 70mph. The Police were my lifesavers and were there within 5 minutes and I couldn't thank them enough. Hence why I've always had a healthy respect for the Police.
I don't know what her problem was, but the fact that a wiper was the only issue, a bit of a 'thanks for the co-operation, have a nice evening and get that seen to tomorrow' would not have hurt public-police relations at all.
She was on a power trip. End of.
I've looked at the wiper, I found the bolt, it was rusty as anything, struggled to get it to move, got it to move and was tightening it up and it's sheared off! :rotfl:It has tightened a little though and is currently on the rear window, so I'm going to the garage to get it priced up this afternoon. Good news is that when it's on the window it works fine, so I'm hoping it's just a case of a new wiper assembly.
Thanks for those who have given some support to my thread. I'm a good person and shouldn't be brought down by people on MSE trying to get a cheap thrill out of saying I have a poorly maintained car and a bad attitude.9/70lbs to lose0 -

But your experiences of the police consists of asking them mainly for directions. You're hardly in a position of having experience of dealing with the police in a situition not of your own doing.0 -
Yes, it will swivel 360 degree if pushed.. I'll go and have another look at it now and see if it will tighten up any more.. thank you
If it doesn't tighten, loosen the nut and take it off, the actual wiper arm is on a spline, just rock it back and forth and it will come off completely. All the will be left is the little threaded stud that the arm attaches to.====0
