Got pulled by the Police last night..
Options
My rear wiper on my Peugeot 206 has broken and is pointing down instead of being on the rear window. It is very secure and is not coming off at all..!
Last night I got pulled by the Police on my way home from a great night out at the local snow slope.
She was quite rude and condescending which really annoyed me. If the wiper is my worst crime then they need to get a life.
She checked all the tyre treads, asked me why the front wing was scratched (lorry hit it whilst parked overnight), tried to lift the bonnet (??), looked all over the front bumper of the car and then did a vehicle check on me.
She then debated whether I was okay to continue home, all of 1/4 mile from where they stopped me.
Now, I understand the wiper is broken, but when she could see it wasn't coming off why not just a friendly warning to get it fixed asap.
No, what I got was to be made to feel like a first class criminal and her closing remark was 'If I see you on the road with it again I'll be giving you a ticket, you can go now'.
I'm in my late 20's, I don't expect to be talked to like that because my wiper is broken. I have tax, an MOT and insurance. I wasn't speeding or driving dangerously. I was not drunk nor had I taken drugs. Numpty..
I had a healthy respect for Police, but after last night I'm slightly miffed with her attitude.
Not only that, but we were dressed in our snowboarding gear, which includes bright green trousers for me, and not once did she ask why lol.

She was obviously bored/flying the Japanese flag!
Not sure why you felt like a 1st class criminal tbh...she only had a look around your car lol
Best way to deal with arrogant coppers is to be really, really polite. Extra polite even. Especially when you know full well they won't find anything. I mean, a defective rear wiper won't even fail an MOT for crying out loud!0 -
Thanks Gordon.. I think it was just that she was very snotty with me and I felt like I'd done something really wrong lol.
It was dark and they were hiding on a sliproad bit off a roundabout with their lights off, then followed me out and pulled me over, blue lights flashing and everything.
Apparently the wiper is a danger to other road users.9/70lbs to lose0 -
So by her logic so would every other rear wiper in the land.
How some people get to become coppers is a mystery.
I bet she fancied you. Green pants and all0 -
Get it fixed and move along, nothing to see here. Just a cop in a strop.0

i would have snapped it off and said what wiper0

I LOL'd :rotfl:0 -
She'd probably been watching too many episodes of police interceptor. Half the motorists on there start out ok until the police wind them up.0

I think one of two things may have happend here - either she had a 'sniff' that something was amiss, gut instinct (which was wrong) but had to throw her weight around so to speak to make up for the embarrasment of finding nothing (and yes I believe you can get a vehicle defect notice for a defective rear window wiper - I have stuff wrong with my car which I know will get one of those if I was pulled over but it's not part of the MOT)
or
your car matches the description of one that was invovled with an incident earlier on, such as a fail to stop, which is why she was asking about the dents.
(or perhaps it was PMT -Police Motorist tension!):ALois Lane 999
Proud to be dealing with my debts!! :T0 -
She was probably more interested in having a sniff of your breath!
Then got in a strop when you was OK!:)0 -
