Just out of curiosity was it a new nexus 4 or used and how much did they give you?
The local CEX here in Darlington states that they will give £344 nothing mentioned about mint good poor etc same as the website, no mention of lower offers depending on condition.
12 hours I had my phone and thought id enquire if they wanted it. The only thing i had done was open the box and check that everything was there. Took it in guy opens the box and says wow its brand new. Yep i says so its £344 then right? Mmm he says we offer £297 £323 and £344 depending on condition. Well youve just said its brand new and theirs no mention of the prices youve just told me anywhere, not even on your website, so its £344 then! We will have to check it for scrathes/test it etc before giving the money. So i replied how do i know you wont scratch it whilst its in your hands whilst examining it? Can you get the tester to have a look and tell me how much you will give for it. Well tester comes has a look and whispers to the assistant good condition. He then turns and says we will give you £323. I laughed and walked out.
Terrible company who constantly false advertise prices.0 -
i took my used unlocked iphone4 16g into the norwich branch last thurs. guy looked at phone and said it was grade b (i agreed with this). was told price was between £141-£152. advised would be 45 mins for testing but i needed to go back to work so went back the next day. they quickly got my phone and i was advised there was a note it was locked to voda. i explained voda had unlocked it but i had not been able to do the last step of re installing the software with a different sim as i didnt have another sim. he advised they would have done that as part of the test (but after the network check) so was happy to get another sim to try and see if it was now unlocked. he checked and it was successfully unlocked. i was offered the full £152 :T they paid me by bank transfer and i got the money today (2 working days)
re some of the points people complained about- i was given a base price there and then so if i wasnt happy i didnt have to give them my phone and wait. i was advised they dont normally have the cash and would be paid by bank transfer so i knew that when i gave my phone in.
i would use again:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j0 -
I sent them a Nexus 4 on Thursday 7th. It was with them on Friday 8th. The order status on the 8th changed to Processing completed, any monies due will follow shortly.
It's been 4 days and not received the money. Have emailed them twice and the owner robert dudani.
How long should I wait before I start to make a claim in the small claims court?0 -
More than 4 days.0

i sent my phone to CeX as they were offering £82.00 for it, about £30.00 better than anyone else. I waited about 2 weeks and heard nothing from them. Eventually i emailed them myself, only to be told, the were offering £27.00 as the phone didn't work right. They say the charger port doesn't work, which is strange since i used it to transfer all my data off the phone and reset it before i sent it away! I responded by telling them to send my phone back so i could sell it to someone decent, which they did relatively quickly. Unfortunately without the charger, meaning i will now get less for my phone when i sell it and i have lost out on the money to package and posting the phone in the first place.
The moral of the story is....don't waste your time on CeX, their prices are lies, plain and simple.0 -
Absolutely disgusted with CeX ! Somebody I know very well has been a regular customer buying computer/game console items for about two and a half years with no problems, always using the same branch. He's a uni student- extra low on cash this week so today after receiving an acceptable online quote for a few items he visited 'his' store.
A member of staff checked the items over along with his receipt and agreed with the £40 offer. Logged onto his account and said "oh we're not allowed to buy things from you because you live in a hostel ! " Asked what difference this made she said " err because it's a temporary address". After explaining that he had lived there for two and a half years the same address for the life of his CeX account and that he lived there due to lack of housing availability also showing his student I'D card and passport. She replied it was company policy to have a blanket ban on buying from a hostel dweller but not to worry it's still fine for you to buy any goods from us!
Surely this is discrimination ? He is a smart, well spoken lad with whom they wanted to do business with until they realised his address.0 -
Extremely disappointed with Cex whom I dealt with because they were mentioned on MSE.
Sent my very old Samsung phone to them as they quoted up to £20 for it. Cost me £2.30 to mail it.
Heard nothing for over two weeks and then they emailed to say it was not a UK phone (it is!!) and offered 0.20p
Bunch of shysters - don't touch them!!!!

I really wish someone at MSE would sticky a note, DON'T deal with CEX by mail order, they are well known for their dubious practices.
To get CEX prices, when they are the best price offered, go instore and deal in person.====0 -
Friend was a good customer of Cex..was always buying games dvds etc from them....he bought an unlocked iPhone off them...great phone they used it for 2 years then he got a contract with a new iPhone so back to cex traded the old iPhone back to them...they tested it etc and gave him the vouchers. Roll on 6 months later he went back to cex with some games to trade in...was told he couldn't trade anything into them any more as the iPhone he had given them was a barred phone!!!! No amount of discussion could get this sorted....Oh but they did happen to say he could still buy from them!!0

I must admit I did not read any reviews before I sent in my Samsung S5620 phone to CeX for recycling.
I sent an email for confirmation they had received my phone and had a set reply and after a reminder I received the full payment quoted to me the next day.
I am a happy Cex customer:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0
