Do not bother with these! The price quoted on the site is for a A grade product but only if you spend the money in store. I took an unwanted upgrade phone which had never been used..... online quote £72.....in store, after 'test', " I can offer you £54 exchange (to spend in store) or £45 cash!!!!! I didn't realise that sitting in a box would cause such a degradation in condition!! I would not even recommend people to shop here never mind trade goods in!
WHAT A JOKE!!!!!!!!!!!0 -
Go else where for products. My teenage daughter spent all her Christmas money on a PSP from CEX, I was with her at the time and she was excited to use it do we went straight home. It was then we found that it was faulty. She took it straight back but they accused her of dropping it, I know not! When u went into the store the supervisor said she could not do anything as the manager was not in, surely supervisors are there 2 manage the store well not in this company. I again returned the following day and again the manager was not in so I have to return a third time. I have e mailed the company twice with no response, it's an absolute disgrace. My daughter has spent all her Christmas money and had nothing to show for it. I will NEVER use this company again so please beware.0

CEX will value at half the price listed on the website. I accept assessment of phone conditions is subjective but the sales staff tend to take the mickey.
Unfortunately for me, I took in a few old phones (Nokias and T-mobile phones) that were lying around and I needed the money. After they tested the phones, they offered me an overall price and I accepted it. I got home and checked the receipt. One of the Nokia phones was taken for £0.00....next time I'll keep the phones/ offer them in a paper ad or throw them in the bin.0 -
I guess I might have had more positive experiences as I wanted to trade in rather than take the cash but I have to say that I've just had another very positive experience. I took in two phones. The first was a BlackBerry 9320. It was unused and had come with an O2 contract so I told them it was locked. It was graded A as expected but as it had never had a SIM in it they classed it as unlocked so I got £90 instead of the £73 listed on the website for an O2 phone. I also handed in my old HTC Wildfire. 26 months old but in good condition and with the box and original parts. Given the age I assumed that it would get graded as a C and would be classed as an Orange phone. It came back as grade B unlocked so £46 instead of £32. Both of my trades took place at the store in Stratford.0

Sent my iPhone 3gs off to these guys on the 9th January after seeing them on this site.. Still not heard anything back from them and now very worried after reading all these bad reviews (Wish I'd read them before!)
Definitely think MSE should stop advertising CeX... I sense this is going to be a battle to get any money for my phone!Thank you to everyone who posts competitions :T0 -
Have used them a couple of times and on both occasions took six weeks to pay up - and one of these phones I sent was sent in as faulty anyway.
The contact centre is useless too, take ages to send a generic reply which is completely irrelevant to your specific order.
The service down my local store is better though, but would never, ever deal with their online service again or recommend it to anyone."Kids respect landlords. I think it's the keys."0 -
I just left my job at cex as i got offered a better job.
While i worked at cex the manager knew people were selling stolen goods but he doesnt care as long as they make a profit. I once saw a guy sell around 30 brand new dvds most new releases and he was homeless and the manager asked him where he got them and he said they were bday presents and the manager brought them anyway.;0 -
Took my Sony Ericsson in after checking prices on mobilevaluer.com. Had to leave the phone overnight but on return got the cash I expected and the amount was better than any other site listed by mobilevaluer.com.
Staff helpful and would recommend this others.0 -
Having compared selling my old mobile on this site and discovering there was actually a shop in a town near me, I went to sell my Samsung. It was in very good condition with box and accessories and the shop said it was 'b' grade and then offered me 'c' grade price (at least £10 less than quoted). I declined the offer - the staff were off hand and rude and when I sent a complaint via the website, they lied and denied the fact I had even had my phone tested!!
I would rather give the mobile away than let them have it and sell it with s huge mark up!
I have asked for the MDs contact details to take the complaint further and been ignored. Does anyone have a contact email?
I made the mistake of not checking out the reviews before I visited CeX - total waste of time - please don't make the same mistake!:mad:0
