[sold a htc desire to them, online and post, from the time they received it, and then they reduced grading, in all it took over three weeks to get my money. SORRY WOULD NOT USE AGAIN.0

I read all the cautionary tales on here earlier today, before taking my Sony Ericsson Mini Pro to my local CEX (KIngston) today. I was quoted £34 cash or £45 credit. I opted for cash - lo and behold I got the usual flannel about them not having enough cash blah blah blah, and they might vaguely have some tomorrow, "but don't come in too early, because it takes us a while to get cash", whatever the hell that means.
I booked the phone in to be checked and said I will be back tomorrow for cash, otherwise I'll take the phone back. Clearly the 'no cash' con remains company policy. How do they give customers change I wonder?0 -
Valued my ipad and CEX were offering the best deal for an A grade product @ £246. Packaged it up, in its original box, and posted on 23 Oct to their Hertfordshire central depot. Before posting I took plenty of photos to serve as proof of A grade condition as ipad has always been in a protective case.
Had to chase 3 time but finally today, 17 Nov, I was told it was worth £180 due to cosmetic scratches on the screen.
Any damage has been done by CEX in the over 3 weeks they have had the ipad knocking around their office/warehouse. Also in this time the trade in value has fallen with other more reputable and reliable outlets.
Have used other trade in companies before both personally and for company equipment. Have never had as bad an experience as with CEX.
AVOID - they may show as offering the most but don't be tempted. It is, in my opinion, a ruse to get their hands on your kit and then downgrade it in the hope you won't be bothered to ask for it back.0 -
thats funny according to your version of c grade here
C grade = anything else. TBH the majority of stock that comes in are C grades, especially ipod touches which scratch just by looking at them. The state of a C grade is going to vary massively from something that's in general good nick to something that's totally battered. And keeping your phone or ipod in a case doesn't always mean it will be in good enough condition to avoid the C grade. Phones still get wear and tear, it's unavoidable.
u will take something thats battered but wouldnt take my htc which you shop said had a loose connnectionWhat goes around-comes around0 -
My phone was valued at £102.00 with others giving £77.00 so spent the time to go to the shop. they offered £70.00!! when I mentioned the internnet price I was told that was in the origonal box with everyting as brand new!!, my phone was as new but even in this condition without the box and everyting I was told it was classed as C grade, I think they bargain on you turning up and accepting the offer made as you have wasted your time and effort.
come on guys throw them off tis site please
Cheers0 -
I've used them for quite a few phones and iPods. They downgraded all but one upon receipt, but I'd accounted for that with the prices.
The lower grade was still a better or comparable price with selling on eBay.
Takes a while doing it online but in my experience worth it.0 -
I've also used them many times - though not for a year or so since i can do better on ebay. They downgraded only once and it was a valid reason as I recall. They generally do pay several times more than anyone else (except Ebay) and although not the most efficient company around they are the best alternative to Ebay in my experience 9though I am talking about the internet site and not the shops, which I definitely would avoid given the almost universal, consistent feedback on here!).0

This is the worst company Ive ever had to deal with. Completely fraudulent. They will never give the amount that is quoted online. I handed handset in and was told it was A grade (the handset had never been used not one single mark on was still in packaging) but when it came to payment I was then told it was grade B. I was then accused of scratching it and using the phone even though it quite clearly had never been used.0

I sent a phone off several weeks ago after valuing it on their webite and matching what I thought was their "mint condition" - phone had been well looked after, always kept in a protector case and had a screen protector - I also sent it with the charger, accessories and original packaging and box. They have just emailed me after several email chases on my part (they do not have a phone number anywhere on the website / internet that can be traced) and downgraded it 2 levels to "poor" saying it had screen scratches and damage to paintwork. I have researched the company a bit more and am concerned over reports on other sites that if I request the item back it will be returned in a condition that means it will be worthless anyway so feel backed into a corner to accept what they have offered me - nearly 50% less than the original online quote for selling to them. I will know not to use them again and would suggest anyone else avoids in future also. Would recommend MSE removes them from their mobile valuer comparison tool (I note this has been done before) for such poor customer service. Onwards and upwards...0

I took my HTC Desire HD in to sell and got refused because the power button was a little lower on one side. The phone had been previously graded A which meant the top price would be paid. CEX WHAT A JOKE YOU ARE!
I seriously recommend Cash Converters. They spoke to me with respect, the polite man talked me through his tests and even complimented me on the top condition of my hand set. I explained in all honesty that CEX had refused it and why, the polite man then smiled and said how short sighted they are based on his personal experience with disgruntled (potential) CEX customers.
I'm delighted to say that Cash Converters purchased my phone and for a better price than CEX originally quoted.
I for one will never use nor recommend CEX to anyone.....Cash Converters on the other hand got 5 Stars all round from me.
Hope this helps you decide.0
