My experience is almost identical to Susiesun. I took my HTC Wildfire in excellent condition and an old Sony Ericsson 910i to the Manchester store. Nowhere on the page where you value the phone does it say a charger is required...but once in store, they refuse to do a thing unless you have a charger. The guy who served me already had the window open on his computer to show me where the website says that a charger is necessary.
Deceptive practices, as the part of the website where you actually value a phone, doesn't reference this at all, or the fact that to them "mint" means with box, etc.
Thinking of reporting them for deceptive advertising.0 -
All the definitions are clear on their website. If it ain't got an original box etc. it isn't "mint".0

Hi
Went to CEX in Derby with my Milestone 2 phone, online valuation was up to £90 for this model at CEX in good condition. When I took it in to trade in they "couldnt find that model on their system" and so chose a different model which was between £45 and £60 depending on whether we had the box! Who keeps the box these days?!?!
It is just a waste of time trying to trade in with this company, they do not want to offer much and when they do make an offer its for a different model! While I was there I looked at what they were selling traded in phones for, they were unbelievably expensive for phones in a much much worse state than mine.
I am going to look at other trade in companies and choose one that offers me the right price for the right model. Just dont bother with CEX they really are ripping off genuine traders.0 -
The online valuation said I should have had a grade B.
Got to the shop and they said it was a grade C even though it is in perfectly good working condition (as the website specifies).
Going to go elsewhere.
Misleading website! Even the staff said so!0 -
They would. If you follow all the feedback it's the shops which try it on - the website generally gives what they offer.0

Grade A in CEX means not ever used I think. I got my phone from their after trading in an old one. I only got £5 less than the best online price I could find as it was on exchange and saved £100 on my new handset and it had never been used other than to test it.
I would never use their online service after a bad order and constant complaints on their facebook page by people who have had problems. Never had any real issues with the store aside from the staff in the PC/Phone section of Birmingham being total !!!!!!!s.Total Debt Feb 2012 [STRIKE]£12,153[/STRIKE] 10674 16.5% Paid

Same problem I had yesterday. Was initially offered £110 for my iPhone 3GS unlocked with the box and the charger it came with (international one, not uk). Phone was in very good condition with no marks on the screen and a few light marks on the back. When he trotted out the charger thing as it wasn't a UK charger, said I could provide an official Apple charger as I had one at home (Came with my iPod). However, as I'd driven 15 miles to get there, I wanted to be sure before I trekked home and back again! The guy then said he'd check with the 'manager' who looked about 10 and had spent the entire time I was in the queue waiting to be seen playing on a DS.
Manager took my phone, looked it over and said because the top right hand corner of the phone slightly wonky (!?!) they wouldn't accept my phone at all?!
Eh?!
So what a waste of time. Then took it to another shop that offered me £57 - which I then laughed at. Phone will now either go on eBay or I will see if I can get a better offer in the town where I live.0 -
Should have definately read this forum before I trekked to the branch, paid for parking etc.
On the website it came up the best price £47, phone is imaculate barely used. Have the accessories, charger etc just no box!
Offered me £20! Absolute con to be honest
The staff member was rude and I definately don't recommend!

Decided to try cex as looked like best price, apparantly they now won't buy 3GS iPhones if they have a small crack near charging slot. As pretty much all iPhones ive seen have this not much luck! Ended up selling to a small independant phone repair shop,0
