His one to one said the teacher finds him frustrating because she knows he is very clever but he was "acting up" making noises:eek: erm no dear he has autism...I know he is clever but he has autism too and the noises were prob a response to being stressed or overstimulated or because he spends most of the school day trying to hold in the behaviour and then snaps.
I will be having a few words with teacher later....feel too poorly to have a big discussion but feel I need to say something...inclusion my a**e!
!!!!!! I despair for Noah and you I really do. Are these people just carp at their job or just thick as pig sh*t?Beggars belief it really does.....

It was ok when he was in foundation stage to be honest but as he has got older he becomes more and more different to his peers:o
School seem to spend too much time getting him to act the same as the other children rather than looking at why he is acting differently and how they can sort it.
Eg instead of trying to get him to keep quiet and get on with his work why not look at why he is making the noises in the first place. He can communicate !!!!!! why not ask him what is stressing him and try to sort a solution like a teaching assistant taking him out of class to let him blow off steam for a while till he calms. Stop trying to make him fit in as he won`t ever be like the others.
I really hope you don`t have such problems when your DS moves through school but sadly as they get older it seems to happen everywhere:(0 -

dont really know much about that age group but looked after a boy with autism. as he was statemented we got funding to hire a 1 to 1 for him. the 1 to 1 was trained in autism and knew how to help him. is that not the case for noah?
i would go as far as suggesting his teachers get some training. and if they have had it then they should go on a refreshers course"I have learnt that even when I have pains, I don't have to be one""You may not control all the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them.”Maya Angelou0 -
He has been statemented since the age of 2:o
However it is rare these days for a statement to be full time hours....infact to be truthful it is difficult to get a statement at all now apparently.
He has 15 hours on his statement so gets one to one 9 tlll 12 then just has general TA help in classroom.
In my opinion special needs should be a big part of the teacher training as even if you are not going to specialise in that area of education, these days you are going to encounter many children with autism, ADHD, dyspraxia etc.0 -
wow - the boy i looked after, they wouldnt even consider the statementing him until he was preparing to go to school (he got his statement but then his parents held off sending him to school for another term). his got his diagnosis at the age of two as well. he had adhd as well. was only granted 5 hrs a week  and was with us 8-6 five days a week
ETA i completely agree with you saying they should all have training. the training course we did was a great benefit to us. helped in ways with the other children without SEN"I have learnt that even when I have pains, I don't have to be one""You may not control all the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them.”Maya Angelou0 -
Butterfly_Brain wrote: »Morning All
Got my DLA form so I must knuckle down and get that done, but I think I will ring them first because I have 2 important hospital appointments in February and that may alter things.
You and me both. Im battling mine at the moment and its so depressing having to write down all your deficiencies. Hope you get on ok with it - they give you ages to get it back but then I dont know if thats worse because you have more time to think about it.
Well Im just back to bed for snooze as I been out for an early appointment. I have been told its early days as regards recovering so I need to be more patient. Easier said than done when I want to start doing some bits and pieces again. My youngest son is off school day with a bad throat. So many horrid bugs around at the moment!
Hugs to the poorly and sad people xxI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -

I think it was because DS was in a nursery at an autism centre. It was for 6 children and they had 1 to 1 specialist worker and speech therapist. He was very lucky. He didnt speak till he was 4 despite this and even now is behind with speech compared to peers. He talks a lot but doesnt always have a proper conversation if that makes sense.
He has ADHD also and tourettes and auditory processing disorder and dyspraxia....has a lot to cope with bless him:o
5 hours a week is just an insult to that other poor lad
Molly/Butterflybrain......the DLA form is a very negative experience isnt it....I found writing in detail about my boys difficulties and highlighting why he needs more help than other kids his age very depressing indeed....hugs0 -
Hello everybody. Just a quick bob in as I'm meant to be working (althugh I have been since about 7
). Just did a search before on the forums as I'm having problems with neighbour parking, me and the neighbour the other side are, and I've decided I need to do something about it. Well I found a thread about car parking "out there" in the rest of the forum and wow they were all ripping into each other. Won't be going out there again...... So far not really a lot done apart from typing/feeding all birdies inside and out. I really need to go to the library but I feel really rough so might cry off. I can always drop off my books on the way to the supermarket tonight.....and pop the cheque I have to pay in through the door of the bank.... We've got a couple of pork chops need eating up so we might have those tonight for dinner depends if I'm still feeling "icky"... Speaking of which hugs to all who need them and I will try and pop back later......(although still no sign of a cheque I'm waiting to receive for work I've done)......And with that like Keysey Sozey I'm gone............. :rotfl:
But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green0
