Old style daily 11th Jan

Options
Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Tuesday 11th Jan. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well

    Vety damp here this morning.
Well i hope that all the sick are starting to feel a bit better. There is a lot of illness around at the moment.

The twins came home last night and they were very tired. They had not had a nap all day. My mom asked them if they would like one when hey had got back from pre school and was told by twin one that were not tired and its not dark:D Mom said they were like little bottels of pop when she got them home after nursery.
Thye had a great time by all accounts.

Not sure what to do for dinner tonight. There is still some beef left over form sunday so i might use that for something.

Iv got a couple of pies for my lunch at work.

Well id better think about getting ready to go to work.
Have a good day everyone and look after yourselfs

    Enjoy:j:j

    Good Morning Everyone!

Today is my first offical day as a house wife!! As I have had to give up work due to depression, money will be tighter then normal so i will be here more often to soak up all the ms os ideas.

Ive spent the morning ironing, put a shoulder of lamb in my slow cooker, took 3 bags of clothes to the charity shop, did the banking and have booked dentist appointments for hubs and I.

The only thing left on my list of things to do today is to start writing a list of what food we have in the cupboards and fridge/freezer.

    Have a great day everyone

    Morning all

'i bought a pack of pork ribs, they are only abt 2-3in big, but loads, i was thinking of marrinading them but i am lost. i dont normally buy meat like this, so it will be my first time cooking them.
any ideas for a marinade (i have honey, mustard and a reasonably well stocked kitchen) and how would i cook the ribs? i was thinking of using the slow cooker for them?
if anyone checks this in the morning, could u copy it to the daily thread for the 11th? much appreciated if you can, or move it to somewhere it would get best answer?' Hi Lola, I marinade pork ribs in soy sauce, 5 spice & worcester sauce, in a plastic bag. I'm sure others will have better ideas.

The car saga seems never ending, took it to work yesterday only for it to start makig scary noises again, the good news is it's only a worn brake pad, one of the cheapest things to repair, phew.
DW loaded, fish fed, breakfast eaten, packups made egg sarnies today, peppered steak & HM wedges for tea.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Dark and damp this morning.

Was absolutely shattered after being at work all day and as expected we were quite busy, luckily had planned an easy dinner, fell asleep on the sofa, DS1 woke me and I went to bed, that's really rare for me to fall asleep early so know I'm still not fully fit. Slept all night without stirring, didn't want to get up this morning, have had a shower, brekkie and now the sweat is rolling off me....nice.....not! Still can't taste anything and have no energy and appetite.

Tonight DS1 has cadets so dinner will be quick and easy.

Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

    Good morning,
another miserable looking day here weatherwise.

It's a dress down day at work today, bit sad, as the son of one of our team leaders died over the holidays, aged 29, cancer, and it's his funeral today. He wanted everyone to wear a football shirt to his funeral, so all of us at work are going in football shirts too, and donating money to his mum's chosen charity.

Depression is bad at the moment, but trying to keep to routine of going to work etc, while hoping new tablets will kick in soon. Got my blue light on Saturday so it's day 3 of trying to see if that will help. I took it to work yesterday. It seems to give me a headache at the moment though.

DS3 got some reductions from MR T last night, so tuna and pasta salad for lunch today for 40p. I'm trying to eat a bit more healthily and hoping that will help.

Hope you all have a good day.

    Cheers.

    Morning all

After the flu bug this stomach one seems to be making its way through the house too with DS2 suffering at the minute. The guy who I sit next to at work went home throwing up yesterday too.

Hospital for me to day 'respiratory investigations' in the hope of finding out why my joints are sore...bit like looking up your bottom to see why nose hurts but if it solves the problems it will be all good :D

Lasagne for dinner tonight and a corned beef hotpot for the twins who don't eat pasta.

    Have a good day x

    Morning All,

Pixie I have also had my first full week at home and same as you money will be a lot tighter but I am loving it. I am trying to work from home as well and doing lots of writing but it's very different than clocking in and out. Good luck I am sure you will love it.

Chilli and rice for us today. Off to visit our daughter just after tea so it will be waiting for us when we get back. I joined WW last night and really like the look of the new programme. My starting weight was very scary but hopefully that is the last time I will see it, so starting today and will plan the rest of our meals this morning (much smaller portions for me)

Just a tidy round this morning and then a full day writing. I am working on the third chapter and really getting into the characters. I am even dreaming about them.

Have a good day everyone x

    Morning all,

Wet here today, so dont think I will put a wash on, very little to do anyway.

I have dd here today on a study day, so we got up at the usual time and I have been pottering, she is just having breakfast and will then get on with some study.

I tried to post a photo of my bird table yesterday but cannot work out how to get them on here, there are some on my FB if anyone wants a nosy.

Had a busy cooking day yesterday, made:

    4 x pasta bake veggie
    2 x cottage pie veggie
3 x mince and onion pie veggie

    1 x meat pie
    1 x cottage pie
    3 x cornish pasties
8 x sausage rolls with leftover pastry

    2 x huge bread pudding

Today I need to do an online shop, do my at home job, take the dog over the field, and tidy through, after that will be sitting down, I have the very start of a sore throat etc, so want to try and get rid of that.

Marie, hope you and OH start to recover soon xx

LolaLemon, I cook my ribs in the sc, and then take them out coat with marinade, then crisp them up in the oven, they are very tender like this.

OK better get on, have good days all, hugs where needed xx
