I actually really liked this one. I've always been able to cook (nothing has ever been bad enough that I wouldn't eat it) but I struggle for ideas a lot and most of her recipes are bland with scope for improvement.
I made some of the sausage rolls from the show though (never would have thought to bother before) and every one has said they were the best they had ever had0 -
i wasnt too impressed with this weeks programme apart from the salt and pepper bread sticks nothing else really appealed to me:xmastree:Is loving life right now,yes I am a soppy fool who believes in the simple things in life :xmastree:0

I'd probably add them on the top before baking, although I'd probably use a milk chocolate for through the brownies, as a dark chocolate and the oreos would be so rich. The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0 -
while channel hopping last night i discovered this. not seen or heard it before but on saturday i saw the same lady chef cooking mac and cheese. my 3 children were glued to the tv watching her and have all said they want to try it ( so guess what i'm makign tomoz). i'm not overly keen on here she seems a bit bland without personality, but i'm sure in time as she developes she will get into her own groove.
i thought the prawns looked really nice, although unsure about whiskey and ginger. and the bread sticks, looked very easy, but i was wondering if they were dry inside like breadtsick you buy in a pack or more of a french stick sort of texture. so will try them out. look like they would go well with cheese and pickles.0 -

I'm not convinced that the ham or the prawns are 'baking'. They certainly aren't very special. The idea that anything done in the oven is baking is a cop out. This was the first one I've watched since the first one. I still think it is missing a spark.0 -
i thought just the same. baking to me mean it is all done in the oven ie cakes biscuits, quiches etc.
but i guess everyone has their own interpritation on things.
the ham looked nice, but i have huge honey issues. it just far to sweet not sure i could use it for any form of cooking ( honey and lemon squash is as far as i can go with honey when i'm poorly)0 -
i personally would have the honey with mustard tends to for me take the edge off the sweetness a bit i use honey and mustard on prok chops that tastes nice:xmastree:Is loving life right now,yes I am a soppy fool who believes in the simple things in life :xmastree:0

I wonder if this is deliberate actually. The BBC got so much flak over that Sophie Dahl programme. They tried to portray Sophie Dahl as a character by having her wear unusual clothes whilst cooking, reading her favourite poetry out, playing music she liked and talking about her philosophy on life. And all those aspects of the programme were really slagged off by the public and press. At the time I wondered if the next programme the BBC made would be toned down with a presenter who didn't have too forceful a personality. Maybe I was right!
I quite like the programme. As someone who is fairly new to baking I actually found it more accessible that many cookery programmes and I did like the recipes.0 -
i think all peeps want to see is the baking i prefer more cooking less faffing about its not needed:xmastree:Is loving life right now,yes I am a soppy fool who believes in the simple things in life :xmastree:0

hermia i couldn't stand sophoe dahl. and because i didn't like her i couldn't watch her prob's. some with big personality like nigella tho do work. or maybe it just she comes accross more natural. but i do think certain persenters are like marmite.
i must say i loved the background music they were playing last night, some dance style tunes, ones i not heard in a while, i think one was robert miles , children. and wow that capitvated me more than her. i was watching to see what other music they played,lol.0
