I've posted on that topic elsewhere.

Actually the engadget homepage moved 3.358 MB, on a refresh on home broadband.
the bbc news home page moved 460 KB, on a refresh on home broadband.

Those figures include upload and download.

This has made me go from singing praises about T-Mobile to looking forward to leaving pretty much instantly. If they had ring-fenced like o2 I wouldn't be so upset.
When you hit the FUP it's not that bad (on the current 3GB) browsing does work at the same speed as before. Downloads do not work, Android market does not work, many apps do not work.

I'm complaining and going to accept nothing but a cancelled contract without penalty, or 3GB of mobile broadband applied. I'd rather stay with T-Mobile as their 3G network is very good in my opinion and going with 3 would cost more and with the dwindling 2G backup I'm not keen on that.

Giffgaff on o2 puts me off as the 3G coverage with them really isn't the best.

Yeah, on a 2hr train journey I used 160MB. I was amazed at just how stable the HSDPA connection was considering the last time I went on the route I was with o2 and that was really crappy.

Yeah - well be careful in future, with the new FUP that 160 MB would be 10 days worth of your unthrottled allowance! Even on the current 3GB FUP its not something you could do every day, even if you only did it while commuting on working days (approx 22 days a month).

That sounds like a pretty useless smart phone if that's what they are going to implement upon hitting 500mb. I already go well over 500mb each month and I don't use anywhere near the full capabilities of my android phone. Usage is going to be significantly curtailed if TM were to get away with this.

    10 days? It's be around 6.25 hours!!
It's very rare that I have train browsing sessions of 2 hours that eat up 160MB, but with a 500MB FUP I'm not going to be able to do it.
The battle to get out continues tomorrow...

Edit: I see what you mean, 16MB/day allowance... bah. It's late.

I don't mean all apps don't work. Google Navigation AFAIK still does work and the limit at the moment only does anything 4pm-midnight. This of course could change too.
I always thought 500MB would be too small for an Android phone. I certainly would not choose a network with such a small allowance.
The options for a larger data allowance are quickly diminishing though.
  • I Cannot actually access my t mobile online at the moment, as it says its currently offline.. But having checked my contract, from when I upgraded back in April Last year, The T Mobile Price plan only says Upgrade/ Ofer: 0 there is no price plan in there, I changed from a Flext 35 and Paying 7.50 for umlimited internet, to a 25 with Free internet included.

I've kept all the paper work form the upgrade, but there is no mention of what price plan i'm on in any of it???

The internet is a core service unless I guess its a flexible booster.

As I told t-mobile last night I use the my phone more as a mini pc than I do a phone.
