i have another problem, i don't have (was not sent) the windows xp media edition disk and i have had to reinstall my operating system.
It worked for me!

Disks will be posted Monday morning, first thing so you may have them by Tuesday. I am amazed that I am still connected to my snail broadband, but it is my only link at present. anybody else been granted their freedom from Clode,yet?0 -
For anyone looking for a decent alternative ISP, i would heartily recommend O2 - customer service like it should be.
I have had problems with Tiscali in the past (in its previous guises) and wouldnt touch them with a bargepole.0 -
After being cut loose by Clode(literally),I'm now on 5.8 mbps with 02 at £7.50 per month (and don't forget the £60.00 from Quidco, making the total about about £5.66 per month).All this speed for so little,I feel spoiled. Please do not hesitate to send off the registered letters to Clode-IT WORKS!0

This forum has given me so much help over the last year, it has been my only source for information as Redten Clode NJP Fat Cat (missed that onecompletely) never once emailed me to let me know what was going on, just got one letter from NJP, and the recent one from clode when they took over the connection. Whenever I had problems, no connection, walled gardens, slow connections a quick check here showed me I wasn't alone. So I have signed up entirely using my Redten connection (which I am using to send this message) because I wanted to say thank you. I wanted to prove it could be done despite my current connnection speed of under 10kbps. Some broadband that is 6 times slower than dial up! I made myself toast waiting for the pages to refresh so the time wasn't wasted.
I finally got through to clode today and have been put on the ringback list. Up to now I've only left ansafone messages and sent emails without response. The girl that answered quickly explained that the person that dealt with Technical support was off sick. "Is that Nick Tonks?" I asked "No", "Well can I speak to him then?", "No he doesn't work for the company any more" was the reply. So there you go I have thanked everybody and even contributed a bit of information and it only took me 45 minutes! I wonder how many people are still left on Redten. Apparently there are twenty people ahead of me on the ringback list so I guess I'm not the last one!0 -
I'm freeeeeeeeee:j now with plusnet.... unbelievable efficient customer service /phone support excellent members portal surfing at 5Mb on monthly contract at the moment:D

Been suffering Redten/Clode incompetence along with everyone else, I'm finally free with a new ISP (Be.)
How did I do it? Basically I kicked the a**e out of the dowloads and was then throttled to sub dial up speed, I rang Clode customer services, I was then offered a release from Clode and the contract without penalty (which I accepted) and was e-mailed within minutes the MAC number. HAPPY DAYS!!

I was also graciously allowed to keep he crappy Redten router and "free" laptop.0 -

I was still on Redten until Friday. Suddenly nothing! I have called NJP to be told nothing to do with them (I knew really but worth a try!!). Emailed Clode, no reply. Will call and be number 23 on the list.
Would have been nice for them to contact me first before cutting me off. Wouldn't mind but they still owe me a service until 21st February 2010, having paid upfront, by cheque, in Feb 2007.

Just been rung by Louise at clode, and she has released me without penalty. (mind you she wouldn't refund anything for last months virtually non-existant connection) only too happy to accept the offer of a MAC code, which she says will take up to 7days. The only expanation she could give for the terrible connection speeds was the fact that they had lost their technical support guy, which was why they were closing my account! I was only a light user, so I guess they are getting rid of everyone.0

Looks like they may eventually be getting around to doing what they should have done months ago, if that is indeed the case, it just goes to show people power does work, Heres hoping for a merry xmas to all remaining Redten victims, and a merry xmas to all escapees as well, and a Happy New Year to all. Except the Jessas of this world of course. :santa2:
