Dear Customer,
You may not be aware but NJP Services Ltd was contracted by Redten Communications Ltd (Redten) to provide a wholesale service on their behalf for your broadband connection. More recently, we have been unable to contact Redten and have made the decision to cease any services provided to Reten with immediate effect. As a result of this decision we will be ceasing your broadband service on 30th June 2008.
If you would like to continue using your broadband service beyond this date you will need to contact us directly so that we might continue your service through one of our other brands. If you choose to continue your service with us then you will be able to retain your current connection utilising the same username and other details as you do currently. In short, your service will continue without interruption.
If you wish to continue your service with us then please telephone us on
0871 424 0185 before 30th June 2008 in order that we can transfer your service to an alternative brand. You will be required to enter into a new contract for this service and make a monthly payment for the service provided. The new contract is only one month and you will therefore be free to leave the service at any time by requesting a MAC code (or a
cease) from your new provider. If we do not hear from you before this time then a cease will automatically be placed on your broadband connection on 1st July 2008. This will normally complete in around 7 days, after which time you will be able to join any broadband provider that you wish to.
Please be aware that although we have been providing the service to Redten we are not responsible for the actions of, or the (unknown) financial situation of, Redten. We are therefore not able to honour any agreement that you may have made directly with Redten. If you have prepaid for your service with Redten then you will need to contact Redten directly to recover any money that you may be owed.
According to OFCOM rules if a customer cannot contact their supplier which is listed as Redten then the wholeseller can issue MAC keys, since NJP admit they cannot contact Redten themselves all requesting MAC keys from NJP should have them within 5 working days. I would request the MAC also sending a copy of the request to OFCOM letting NJP know you are doing this if they cease the line on 30th it will cost the activatioin fee again to get ADSL. If you sign up with them you could have a hidden 12month contract.0 -
I got that same NJP letter re cease of service I went to BT one month ago but still get this crap from NJP unless of course NJP own BT who own CLODE who own REDTEN
Mind you I would not be at all surprised to fing my service ceased anything is possible with this lotWho cares ??0 -
I have just finished lodging a new complaint with OFCOM regarding having to pay Clode to get a MAC code from Redten.
OFCOM confirmed that MAC codes cannot be withheld as a bargaining chip, to force people to settle accounts, and are treating it as a new complaint, against both Redten and Clode.
I would suggest that anyone else who asked for a MAC and was denied one until settlement, also lodge a complaint, as once again what is happening is against the regulations, and should be stopped.
This will only happen if people complain about the abuses to the regulations.

I will be ringing Ofcom in the next 10 minutes to see if I can help push it, as Clode have told me they have no way of getting the MAC's without cancelling the contract.0

been out of the loop for a couple of days so missed all the fatcat banner changing malarky. got a snail mail letter from fat cat this morning confirmng they have aquired redtens assets and are back on unltd - anyone else had this??0

I have been out of my house for the past 9 months due to a flood and have not been affected by the whole Redten debacle. Now I am back in I have reconnnected to the NJP service with between 1 & 2mb download speed.
I paid up front and have had no correspondence from NJP or Fatcat about the service ending on 30th June or switching to Fatcat. Are those who paid up front being treated any different to those who pay monthly. It sounds as though everyone is getting the S*$%ty end of the stick.0 -
Mislednel's post is now news on the ISPreview website, after I started a thread there. They have contacted NJP already (over the Google harmful site warning) so hopefully their contacts will be able to get more information over the next few hours and days:

I hope someone can link this news and Fatcat Internet and find out something concrete for you folks. I can only sympathise as a fellow NJP user with Fast4 (until Wednesday anyway) and knowing all the problems over the last few months their customers have had with them. At least now the main broadband websites will be aware of what's happening and can dig deeper.0 -
Just got off the phone from njp who will be sending my mac code in the next few hours..Strange how prior to the "ceasing your service 20th june" notice "i recieved a you are near your 15gb limit" from redten. Its a shame its come to this so I will take the prepaid hit ( for now) and leave whilst I can. Looks like NJP dont want the hassle.0

Hassle????????
They deserve all the hassle people throw at them, they are not much better than redten particularly customer services. (Term used lightly)
What about the hassle they have caused redten customers!
If you are reading this John, customer services manager, I am out of it in spite of your obstructive approach, and now with a reasonable ISP, enjoy the ride. :rotfl:
