Hi everyone,
I am pleased to announce that I am free from the shackles of Redten and Clode.
You may recall that I submitted a counter offer which basically covered the 'extra' items I ordered with the package (printer router et.c). I never rec'd an acknowledgement to say that it was accepted or rejected. I re-sent it again one month later (1st June). Still no reply, so I sent it again yesterday. Within 20 mins, Lousie rang me - basically saying that my counter was rejected, I still had £411 outstanding on my account, however, as a compromise a new settlement offer was made. A little more than I had offered but I accepted and paid there and then. Louise said that my MAC would take a couple of days.
This morning I rec'd a letter from Clode confirming what had been agreed and two emails one from Redten with a scheduled cut off date and one from Louise with MY MAC!!!!!!!
MAC used and signed up to O2.
On reflection it goes to prove that patience and the determined efforts of other Redten customers has made Clode/Redten see sense.
Thanks to all on this forum, your contributions have helped us all thru' this mess. I will keep an eye on the posts tho' and good luck to those still waiting for their requested outcomes.
Cheers:beer:

I also got a deadlock letter, one line from Nick Davies but once again never used it.
More importantly I have at last received a MAC code, only took around 50 working days, it is amazing what can happen if you pay money!!
At long last --well done --your persistance is quite remarkable --sending all those requests.:T
I think other people will now have an easier time getting sorted.
I did not have a deadlock letter which only matters to FSO and Dispute Arbitration. They will not usually act without one. However they took up my case without one and wrote to Clode looking for a deadlock letter and gave them 14 days to supply one. No longer matters as Clode have now settled with me.

I am thinking of going down the court action route but I have heard some of you talking about a "deadlock" letter. Has everyone who has issued court papers had one of these?
Thanks
You dont need a deadlock letter but to have any chance at court case, you must have written formally to Clode to tell them their breach of contract is unacceptable to you and have given them time to repair the breach. 30 days is sufficient.
If breach then not repaired you must have written to them to say you are not accepting the lesser service which is being provided and you want your entitlements under the Consume Credit Acts Section 75.--and then
ie they have failed to provide the service under contract therefore you are entitled to your money back or any credit agreement cancelled. The cancellation should take effect from either the date of the breach or as a compromise the date you informed them that the breach was unacceptable.
good luck

Just a quick note to say "keep trying". I rang Louise at Clode yesterday and we like "Philclem" agreed on a settlement figure that was lower than their first offer of £188.
The figure reached was based on the number of months left and the cost of replacement service for those months.
Louise is under a lot of pressure at the moment as she is dealing with a very large mailbox. When pushed about the number of Redten accounts she said it was in the "thousands". Therefore it will take time to sort everyone.
Got my letter this morning signing the account out and informing me that the computer equipment is mine to keep. Also got my MAC code this morning by email.
Am looking forward to something faster than 30kb/s downloads.
A big thank you to EVERYONE who has posted, I don't think I would have got through the Dark days without the info everyone has provided over the months. :beer:0 -

Like a lot of you I reached a compromise yesterday. I can now sell the computer for more than I paid to free me of all contracts with RT/NJP/Clode . My MAC arrived by email earlier today and I have now signed up for an unlimited D/L 16Mb supply from Sky.
Many thanks to all that have contributed to this forum, your views and experiences have aises me through these last 3 months. Good luck to all that follow, I will keedp an eye on your proceedings

Hi all, just thought I would Congratulate all those who are now free of Redten/Clode and let you know my position.
I decided to try to settle with Clode one last time before I file court action. But I'm not having much luck getting a sensible solution from them. Maybe I'm the only one who still finds there offers of settlement unacceptable, but after all this time of me chasing them to sort this I am unwilling and unable to pay the extortionate figures they keep presenting me with. I refuse to be left out of pocket because of the inadequacies of these companies to handle complaints in a sensible and timely manner. And refuse to let them get away with so many breaches of consumer law. The matter is now in the hands of the Legal advice team from my home insurance company. Court proceedings will be filed very shortly.0 -

Not much consolation I know, but those of us that paid in full up front can't even deal with Clode who are the only ones settling and giving a MAC, so we're still stuck with the infamous "you need to contact Redten to get a MAC" - some hope!! Even then will come the start of trying to get a refund from Redten which really will be a laugh :rotfl: Ho Hum!0
