Well done Essex and Gnipper - your hard work has paid off in the end.
Can I just ask you both a question - now that you have agreed a settlement with Clode, have you received a MAC code as yet or have you been promised one within a few days?
As mentioned in my earlier posts, and similar to other posters on here, I never received my laptop and router so Clode were 'happy' to cancel my finance agreement a few weeks back with no payments made to them. I am now receiving free, albeit unreliable, capped broadband until my MAC code, which I have requested on several occasions from Redten, Clode, NJP and Murphx, arrives.
My point being that once Clode ended my agreement they wanted nothing more to do with getting my MAC code - I would be interested to hear if/when you get your MAC codes, and who from.

Just jumped back into the forum to see what's happening.
Haven't had chance to see whats going on with Redten Clode etc.
I still would like to get away from Redten but don't really have the time to take legal action.
Could any body give me a quick run down on where we're at ? i.e present download cap and significant statements from Clode/Redten.
I've just logged in to my NJP account details and noticed that it doesn't mention what the download limit is anymore.
What i did notice is that they reset my usage clock to Zero on the 11th, 15th, 23rd and 28th May. I'm confused does this mean that I can download as much as i want as they will keep resetting it.
Any replies greatly appreciated and i'm sure that a "where we are so far" precis would help other people that haven't got the time to read through hundreds of back posts.
Thanks in advance0 -
Hello nogbad251,
As I see it most people seem to have been waiting the court cases from essex and gnipper. The pair of them have just managed to make some deal with Clode, which they can't talk about, so no court cases will take place. Also Clode keep making references to some big announcement, this was supposed to happen last week or the week before (I forget), but whether it happens remains to be seen. One thing that makes an announcement look fairly likely is that Clode has set themselves up another company called FatCatInternet, and the belief is that this new company will be taking over from Redten soon.
Almost forgot seems we are all back to a 5 Gb limit on usage every month but NJP have removed the link to see what our usage is.0 -
Some bad news for me - just off the phone with the legal advice helpline from my insurance company and they don't think I have a case. I was never tranferred to NJP (thank god) and set up a new account with Tiscali. The lawyer says Clode is only liable for providing the internet service equivalent to the one you had (good news for thos stuck with NJP) so he reckons I should contact Clode and offer to settle my balance minus a discount for the £14.99 a month I'm paying for Tiscali to pay for my (not really) free computer. I did point out that I was only invoiced for broadband plus a printer but he reckons the legal jiggery-pokery in the T&Cs will cover that bit.0

Have a look at my post on page 272 to see how to check your bandwidth usage
Also, my usage this month has gone to 7gb so far and no throttling. It seems a bit random who gets throttled and when, so I guess I'm lucky as I haven't been throttled since Clode said we were going back to unlimited even though I've gone past the so called caps of 15gb then 5gb shown on my account on NJP (though I'll be truly lucky if I ever get a MAC but still seems unlikely!).0 -

Have Clode every offered to connect you to NJP or an alternative ?0 -

He's not saying that - He says all Clode are liable for is to provide an equivalent service to the one Redten did. By failing to do that I am entitled to ask for them to discount me what I've been paying Tiscali from April to the end of my Redten contract. However, I am still liable for the outstanding balance of my contract (probably around £300). As I said, you can go around the houses on the "free pc" thing but its in the T&Cs - it belongs to Redten until the three years is up.0 -

You say you were never transferred to NJP was this because you used the mac bt posted in their walled garden post ? or was your line left untaged ?
in any case I think the fact that you went to a new Isp of your own free will does let Clode of the hook
I was transfered to their crap service and my legal insurance coughed up to sort it out as they said " in all probability you will win in court " but it will cost more than your claim is for so an ex-gratia payment was offered to the full amount claimedWho cares ??0 -

I used the Mac code I got from the walled garden. The lawyer had the same opinion - by taking matters into my own hands and doing what they were patently unable to do I've effectively shot myself in the foot - ain't life grand?
BTW he also says that by stopping your direct debits you are also breaching the contract and letting Clode off again.
