Howdy all, been gone a while, not because I've been happy, but because I've lost broadband access completely
Update: Sent second counter complaint letter to Clode mid April, gave them 4 weeks to reply, nothing, in the meantime, I thought, hell why not just call redten and ask for a MAC code, and wouldnt you believe it I got straight through and I had a MAC code within minutes
Thats where it went bad,
I continued just sitting on the fence as to whether I should use redten broadband or jump ship, constantly hankered to the idea that I'm tied to Clode. until on the 7th May I suddenly dont have ANY internet access! I thought RedTen had gone belly up and so started quickly shopping for another ISP with my MAC. Signed up and got a letter 5 days later saying the MAC was rejected and that there is still a tag on the account.
Called up NJP and they confirmed that RedTen just deleted my account, on my MAC request and NJP wanted to charge me a £47 reconnection charge (no chance!)
Went to Clode, spoke to *** and they wanted me to put figures in an email for a decision to be made as to who shall pay for the reconnection.
I've now gone back to NJP requested they remove the tag, and they said 10 days it will be gone, I'll then sign up to a bog standard single month contract ISP until Clode sort me out, I will then be open to be moved back on the network if they really want me too. (although I doubt they will be that amiable)
Ahhh the fun of not having broadband again, you should see my dial up bills at the moment.
BT should develop some sort of "Pay as you Go" service for deactivated lines, I consider Broadband as a 5th Utility to be honest and not having it is just plain wrong!
Ciao for now!0 -
Also got a call from Trading Standards (I've never contacted them) although I cant get hold of the chap dealing with it, on training today...
Dont know what thats about0 -
Has anyone else tried to use their MAC to move to O2? I have just tried and the O2 site says it is an invalid MAC and they normally start with BBIP or FTIP, mine starts with LYLC. Anybody any ideas? Do O2 use a different connection to BT standard? Should I just say I don't have a MAC for the O2 setup? If anyone else has successfulyl signed up to O2 I would appreciate your help. Many thanks.
Hi Mr Big
I got my mac on the 8.4.2008 from redten and njp and it begins BBIP and ends EK22M
I think the M relates to murphix.
I also have signed up for BT and have the hub and phone on option 3 --it has worked fine --and if you go out and about with laptop or the togo phone if you sign up for BTFon you can receive wifi access re hotspots. Bear in mind if you take the BTvision as part of the various offers it uses 1.6Mbp/s of speed and BTfon uses .5Mbp/s speed. so depends how much you can get --mine is only 6.5 in total so did not take vision option.
Hope thats helpful

" Has anyone else found that since we were migrated to NJP, the SPAM levels have grown, to be fair to Redten, SPAM was very rare on my machine, but I am now getting around a dozen messages a day and it is increasing. "
Hi all.
I had the same problem with the same sets of spam and phishing bank emails.
I have downloaded spam fighter from the site below., and it really has done the trick. Found the culprit imbedded in the directory and has fairly quickly reduced the spam I am receiving from all sources as I block them. My outlook directory spam filter is useless it would appear.
I did not have the same problem with hotmail.
You get the pro version free for 30 days trial and can then either buy a subscription for £17 a year or keep the standard version for free on your machine.

You should remove your email address from your post that I was refering to.. http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=11025813&postcount=5062 or at least make it far less SPAM friendly
Point taken missed that one, but I still suspect someone is selling on our details, and I am not pointing at anyone in particular.

I found the spam level when with Redten rose steadily but that may be just the general increase in same and yes it has shot up since the abduction by NJP (as JP very nicely put it ) hey thats not the same JP as in NJP is it ?
Go wash your mouth with soap, don't you know its not nice to use language like that in front of youngsters. :rotfl:

Did they now? I wish they would mine. I have requested that SO many times!!
Same as my MAC code really. Only requested it about 7 or 8 times now and still dont have it. Reluctant to ask Clode for it again as they are unlikely to respond bearing in mind the court action.. gah.
I am still sending a daily request for my mac code to Clode, redten and cc to NJP, OFCOM and Jessa, I send the same request each day with the number of working days changed since my first request, now 31 days.
When my case comes to court they will not be able to say I dai not request a MAC
