Have you seen who's got an ad banner at the base of page??!!

Sadly their advertising has pretty much been a permanent fixture on that site. It does make it a popular place to post fast4 reviews though http://www.ispreview.co.uk/review/products/279.html

I think they did make it into the complaint section at one time too http://www.ispreview.co.uk/new/complain/complain.shtml

************ Congratulations ***************

You are our 5000th message poster, and as such you are entitled to a prize

The prize you have won is blisteringly slow internet access if you have the temerity to try to use the unlimited download allowance as per your contract, this is coupled to many hours of listening to music, at a nominal charge, you only need dial 08444820000 and you can listen for hours, should you be unfortunate enough for your listening pleasure to be interrupted by someone answering, don't panic, just ask for a Mac code and they will immediately hang up, whereupon you will be free to redial and enjoy the music once more, you will also be pleased to know that the pittance it costs to enjoy this music will be donated to Redtens favorite charity. (Yes that's right Redten itself)!
You will also be blessed with spending hour after hour on your "free" computer, typing letter after letter, and e-mail after e-mail instead of wasting your time sorting out the daily trivia brought about by friends and family members.
Also don't forget the educational benefits that you will receive, how many of your contemporaries know as much about OFCOM, Trading Standards and all of the other Government bodies we have already taught you, and how many know how to lodge court papers over the internet?

We at

the Redten and Clode " Money User Generator (MUG) panel hope you enjoy your prize, and we hope you enjoy many more happy years with our happy and informative service, and trust you will recommend us to all of your friends and family.

Whether your needs be broadband, computers or credit, or if only time spent away from loved ones, we will be here for you.

Enjoy your prize.

p.s. To confirm this win just phone

09050990200 someone will eventually answer (maybe) and deny all knowledge of this letter and cut you off, but please keep trying as calls only cost 50 pence per minute or part thereof.

Further to that, I just had a call from Clode (yes they phoned me!) saying that he's out of the office tomorrow as he's going to be in London.I'm welcome to ring and speak to one of the representatives dealing with Redten - Louise Hingley.

I asked whether she would be able to authorise anything as I was told earlier that the only person who could do that was Nick himself. Reply- Oh no, that's not true, Louise is able to make decisions in his absence!

I therefore emailed him proposing he might want to ring me tonight!

Cumwiddit Nick!

• Hi Nedmundo,

Dont be too anxious for a result, I was dealing with the said Nick until 8.4.2008, when he stopped responding to me after I kept asking him to cancel the finance agreement as redten had cancelled my account and given me a mac code.
Apparently they wouldn't cancel until they first got the money back from redten. ( the helpful Mark Jenkins told me that before he got the boot )
I wonder if they have been asking Shiraz for it?
Maybe we should ask his Dad.
Good luck anyway--they'll have to respond now as they got sent my legal request for the money.

Hi To All Fellow Sufferers , I Am Still Stuck In The Same Internet Hell As The Rest Of You Guys . The Only Difference Is At Least Some Of You Get To Talk To Some Of The Clode ' Management ' , I Just Get Completely Ignored ! Anyway , I Just Wondered If Anyone Had Looked Into Getting A Completely New Phoneline Put Into Their Home , And Would This Then Allow Connection To A New Broadband Provider , Bypassing The Need For A M.a.c ? I Understand B.t Would Charge Upwards Of £120 To Do This , And Obviously It Would Mean Changing Your Home Phone Number . But At This Stage I Am Prepared To Do Anything To Get A Proper Service !! Has Anyone Considered This ? Any Comments Or Advice Would Be Much Appreciated . . . . .thanks
• I haven't read the detail, but for a new line it may be considerably cheaper than the £120 you quote.

• Another route to try would be to contact NJP and ask that they supply you immediately with a mac code or you will report them for deliberate obstruction in the Application of General Condition 1.2 by preventing the redten customers from leaving the NJP supplier when the customers were slammed to the NJP supplier. NJP were well aware that redten ad not fulfilled the statutory obligations when they, NJP, sent out the letters dated 12.3.2008. They were aware then that customers had been slammed and refused and prevented customers from leaving either by a mac code or a cancel order.
The penalties for that breach by NJP as the gaining back bone supplier are hefty.
BT complied by their stark blockage and the offer of a mac code or cessation of service, but NJP did not. Both companies have to comply. You can use the BT notification as evidence to OFCOM.
OFCOM can do nothing unless the customers complain. ( I complained about NJP at the same time as complained about redten )

I sent a written complaint to NJP on the 23.3.2008 and again on the 31.3.2008 regarding their failure to comply with the OFCOM regulations.

As the Cancel order is usually applied during the transfer, it may be that NJP only way of complying now would be to issue you with a mac code.

However if they now complied with the cancel order, your service would be ceased until you signed up with another supplier but at least you would be free of them.

Maybe it was because I had complained about NJP and their failures that OFCOM were going to assist me to have BT breach my line ie to cancel the service being supplied by NJP and using the regs of General condition 1.2.

Certainly it was after that threat that I got my code from them.

The regs are set out below. ( you need to read them a few times to understand them )

To ensure compliance with General Condition 1.2 Ofcom expects all Communications Providers to apply Cancel Other only in the following circumstances:
1. Where a request for a fixed-line telecommunications service has been made without the customer’s express knowledge and consent (“Slamming”) or at the customer’s request, that is, in the following circumstances:
1. where the customer confirms that they were never contacted by the gaining provider (Cancel Other code 9X50);
2. where the customer confirms that there has been contact with the gaining provider, but they had not given the gaining provider authorisation to transfer some or all of its telephone calls and/or line rental to the gaining provider (Cancel Other code 9X20);
3. where the customer confirms that they agreed to purchase a product or service from the gaining provider and the gaining provider has submitted a request for a different product or service which the customer has not agreed to purchase (Cancel Other code 9X70); or
4. where the customer confirms that they agreed to transfer some or all of its telephone calls and/or line rental to the gaining provider having understood, as a result of a deliberate attempt by the gaining provider to mislead, that it is making an agreement with a different communications provider (Cancel Other code 9X60);
1. at the customers request where the customer confirms that the gaining provider has failed to cancel the request after being directed by the customer to do so (“Failure to Cancel”) (Cancel Other code 9X80);
2. where the telephone line is ceased during the transfer period (“Line Cease”) (Cancel Other code 9X40); and
3. for other specified reasons not related to a customer’s request to cancel a transfer, and agreed by the service providers forum (Cancel Other code 9X00).
