Have a look here too. It is the draft legistlation for the The Consumer Protection From Unfair Trading Regulations, 2008. It becomes effective as law on 22nd May, 2008. I was speaking to Trading Standards about npower and overcharging and they mentioned these regs. They described it as 'the most important piece of consumer legistlation for forty years'. It is all good news for the consumer apparently. http://www.opsi.gov.uk/si/si2008/dra...110811574_en_2

Right, had more communication with Clown, sorry Clode this morning.

No response to my emails last week despite promises to the contrary, complained and got a reply saying blah blah seems we are deadlocked.

Its a farkin disgrace - they have answered none of the points raised. They are being very guarded in this whole matter. Got an email saying they respect my right to pursue legal action.

Right, well, thats that then. Thats what I will do right now.

Edit: Issued court docs - balance of account + 2 payments. Clode and Redten as joint defendants. Dont care how long this takes now, im in it for the long run. Feels like a weight has been lifted already. The most disappointing this about this whole mess is that Clode have said they will reply to the correspondence from the court in the timescale allowed - wouldnt do that to me personally!! Dont expect Redten to reply at all, which is probably good from my point of view!!!
  • Good for you gnipper.
Now thinking of going down the same route as, despite being a reasonable person, have just lost patience with this whole charade.
Perhaps you would be good enough to let me know how and who I use to make a claim. Sent all the recorded letters etc.

Ben - you can do it online -

    https://www.moneyclaim.gov.uk/csmco2/index.jsp

This takes you through the whole process step by step - its not incredibly easy to use so you will need to read everything is says, and getting your particulars of claim to fit the box is a bit of a struggle!!!

This is exactly the same response I got from Nick Davies last week, my court papers were issued 1st May, I emailed them asking if they wanted to settle and his reply was that he hadn't seen the papers and that, I quote "we will give this due consideration and reply in line with the deadlines set out in those documents"
His deadline is fast approaching (they have 14 days) and still no response.

Slight miscalculation on my earlier timings, they have 14 days from when they were served. This is calculated as 5 days from issue, so calculate 19 days from day of issue.

I dont mind waiting 14 or so days for the legal process to take its course. At least we will have some sort of resolution in that time.

Keep us posted as to the response you get essex. be interesting to see the tack they take.

    Hello All,

Hope everyone had a good weekend.

On Friday afternoon I asked Louise Hingley if they wanted to accept my counter offer of £300 for the two laptops and she replied that she was unable to. Then asked how flexible they were willing to be and no response. Was mention of some update regarding my complaint and I would be contacted shortly.

I realise that some of you might think I am being generous with my offer but as a later joiner my contract is for a package.

On a different note is it preferable to have proof of contact by post or email?
I didn't send my counter offer by post but they have responded to the email so is it worth following up the email with a letter?

Also if anybody has a laptop the cost of an extra two years warranty from Toshiba is £79. So make sure this is taken into account with Clode.

Has anyone received their MAC code from Clode?
Its been 10 working days since I accepted the offer, when I phoned Clode on Friday, they said I was at the top of their list...has anyone else been told the same thing?

Since 1st May my connection speed has dropped down from 1.5Mb to approx 200Kb, I suspect this may be deliberate to stop me exceeding the 15Gb monthly limit. Has anybody else had the same problem since 1st May.

Spoke to NJP who say they have no control over the line speed that is controlled by RT servers. Tried phoning RT gave up after being bored by the music.

Also spoke to Clode this morning about my counter offer. She said they are snowwed under with counter offers but are working through them and I will get a response. As for the connection speed issue she said I would have to speak to RT, easier said than done I replied. Yes I know we struggle to contact them as well.

    My patience is running out.
