I have been qouted £402 signed up nov07. took the pc & laptop option £24.99, to be fair I have received them. I am very very tempted to accept and be done with this NIGHTMARE!! for good, was told I would receive the MAC Code 5 to 10 days after payment was received.......trouble is I dont think I could trust them to keep there end of the bargain.....HA!! bargain....now theres a word.......
Personally I wouldn't accept any deal where I have to pay to end my contract. I have fulfilled all my obligations as per agreement and dont see why I should have to pay anymore.0 -
hurrah i see everyone is and hopefully will ignore loaded and not get back to what he caused last time
hes just baiting us all so it can be used as a get out in court if you dare say anything out of tone on redten or clode so lets happily go on about OUR stuff while he sits merrily in cookoo land unless as his name sugests hes willing to spend some of that loaded cash on paying us all out

I totally agree with you but I am totaly fed up with this situation, and it is starting to consume my life. to be honest I would pay more for a good holiday, and if I was rid of these clowns and signed up to a good isp it would feel like I had been to barbados for a fortnight.0 -
my reservation is to pay and not receive a Mac code then have no financial leverage.0

I have still had no luck getting anything out of Clode or Redten but have spoken to NJP. It has informed me that it will be offering to take over customers broadband if they so wish ie. providing the support aswell rather than just the backbone. It does mean you will be starting a new contract with NJP but as its contracts are a minimum of one month you would be able to get a MAC code after this time.
HOWEVER this doesn't mean your financial obligation to Clode will be over, you'll still be tied into that contract and would need to pursue it. If you are thinking of doing this you'll need to think carefully about the impact it might have on negotiations with Clode and you may need to write a letter stating without prejudice.
NJP will be sending out letters shortly on this.
I hope this makes sense and sorry it wasn't any better news.
Sorry if I am being thick but this would mean paying NJP for Broadband, would it not?
I have already paid Redten for a further 24 months so would like to get that instead.
PS Thanks for trying.0 -

Im totally fed up too, but after fighting this long for justice I feel by accepting such an offer then all this would have been for nothing. I want rid of them but not at financial detriment to myself. I also dont know how they can expect people to stump up so much money and only give 24 hours to do so. Originally it was about the limits and loss of service etc but now its also about principal and the way we have been treated. Im not an idiot and find it very offensive to be treated like one by these companies.
If people feel they have had a good offer, can afford it and are willing to pay for it then fair play to them. Im not willing or in a position to do so.0 -
I received my offer today, £225 and less than 1 day till their deadline to respond. I cannot belive how unreasonable they are being about this but on the other hand, I can only rub my hands in glee because the courts will probably agree with me. Will fax rejection letter tomorrow and also post recorded delivery surface mail. I have included a counter offer, taking their estimated price for unlimited broadband from an alternative supplier (Tiscali currently quoting £12.99 per month) but I have also added the cost of parts and labour warranty £210 and internet security £60, bringing the total cost to £60 more than my outstanding account with Clode. This assumes that Redten won't want their PC back, otherwise the cost increases by another £292 ( residual value of a £500 PC written down over 3 years). I have given them 5 days to respond but somehow I don't think they will be reaching for their cheque book so I fully expect to be serving a tort middle of next week.0

I'm with you on this one. Personally I would rather settle this amicably and I think it would be fair to say that most of the people here feel the same. However, if Clode are going to insist on treating us like idiots then they will reap what they have sown.
As well as preparing my case for the Sheriff Court I also intend to contact the consumer affairs advocate on a national paper here in Scotland and see if I can interest them in what's going on. I would suggest others do the same as I think Clode and Redten's despicable attitude deserves to be well publicised in order to spare future consumers from making the same mistakes we have in getting involved with these bozos.0 -

I'm almost with you on this one incredibledisc but being a fellow canny Aberdonian I'm a bit wary about publicising the fact that I fell for all this.....LOL0 -

Agreed! And I think we have given them plenty of opportunity to resolve this amicably.0
