However my point is that the main reason I bought into Redten wasn't for some cheap n flimsy Free PC ( mind the screen wasn't bad :rolleyes: )
It was because I was previously paying £25/pm for an unlimited 512Kbps connection to another ISP and for £5.01 less I could upgrade to the new (It was in 2006 anyway) Unlimited ADSL Max service that at the time my current supplier wanted an extra £10pm for

My previous albeit slower provider gave me ping times to San Francisco in the region of 90-130ms, on switching to BT with Redten, my ping's plummeted to sub 50's. Now ever since black monday on 10/3/08, no sorry that should really be 19/3/08 care of NJP my ping times to San Francisco are over 400ms!!!
That's 8 times slower

I don't have many issues inside Europe but I don't game in Europe often

I somehow doubt benjimoron is a plant as he is active on another forum I go on with almost 4000 posts dating back to 2006, he seems a genuine guy to me!!

see my point is it depends who they are tied in with on how they perform in different parts of the world my last server to name tham was freedom to surf (f2s) i never had a problem with them ever speeds were always constant even to usa or any where else come to that they were the best at the time while everyone else was moaning at the time about speeds and such i never knew one who ever moaned about them customer service was the best ive ever known too dont know what they are like now and are tied with pipex i think but i know they do 16meg service unlimited for 19.99 a month i think but if id have known this with redten was going to happen id never have left them no matter what "free" items were offered !!!

I was with f2s as well (a fabulous ISP)

I had no problem with Redten upto the 10th March.
Redten/BT had always delivered a fairly robust package in my opinion and I suffered virtually no downtime, ping's were always stable and I had no problem gaming with the connection.
Ever since been 'Slammed' over to NJP by Redten my internet experience has virtually halted.
I'm now under a capped service that they seem to throttle back on whenever it suits them, it's not what I'm paying for and NOT what I will accept.

Now I've done the maths I've got a funny feeling my internet connection is going to be cut off about now..........

Another Newbie poster,
Been following this thread(with interest) I lost 10 days like everyone else...and having broadband access is essential for the OU course I,m doing.
To be honest I would like to leave and go to another provider;and not being able to retrieve my mac = stinks!
I spent about £36 trying to call the non-existent redten and using dial up
Luckily(if you can call it that!) I was recovering from a knee op when we lost the internet...and was able to use the time off work to use the local libriary and resources centre.
I went down the path of 'uselessness' trying to contact redten,clode and i,d even include OFCOM :mad: .
I signed up Jan 2007 for the 'free pc' with 'unlimited internet' for 36 mths.
Whilst being relatively trouble free the past 14 mths(thank god!)and happy with my ISP with what has happened over the last month..well it has been nothing short of a disgrace!
Customer relations has been shocking(generally i think these helplines are just the biggest money making con in existence!!)...and to be ripped off whilst nobody even picks up the phone :mad: .I still can,t believe people can run a business like this
Whatever happened to 'the customer comes first'? Seems like a bygone saying these days.
Anyways...rant over...I,m interested as I NEED a RELIABLE internet provider; the sooner i can swap over to one of the 'here to stay' big guns the better.I,ve learned my lesson with the 'fly by night' cowboys!

Hi Ive just downloaded the free bandwidth monitor from rokario, so to keep eye on my 3 broadband of 3gb, however nothing seems to be happening the icon comes up when i click on it, but there is no incoming or outgoing bit per sec etc!! have i done anything wrong.
can anyone please help
