    No,

BT decided to cease my broadband line so I currently have no broadband. The cease order was due to come off yesterday so o2 are placing their order for my line today. I guess it's another couple of weeks away though?

BT really annoyed me, they gave me a MAC which is supposedly still valid until 4/4 and they also ceased my line without my permission. They happily admit that they ceased the line (not redten) but refuse to tell my why other than it's because Redten are no longer trading (which at the moment is untrue). After I got to that point they said they refuse to speak to customers as they only deal with ISPs so I should get my new ISP on the case.

10 minutes of arguing with o2 and they agreed to look into the matter and would get me broadband.

If anyone wants a laugh, phone up Tiscali and ask how fast their line is, they told me it's 8 megabytes. When I pointed out it was 8 megabits they told me I was wrong. Spoken to about 10 people who tell me that they're the same thing, just the way you pronouce it apparently. One advisor told me that it is 8 megabytes and therefore 8 times faster than any other line on adsl!

Manager refuses to tell me when all their staff will be giving out the correct info, told me to go to trading standards! According to one advisor they have been calling it 8 megabytes for the last 2 and a half years since she started!

Thats correct, unless you have a migration code from redten to migrate to another provider then if BT intervenes they forceably breach your line to disconnect you from the tags on your line which then allows you to sign up with whoever you wish.
Thats why the code they offered had limited use as was only useable on their own tagged line before transfer to njp began.

    F.

That will happen now to anyone who goes without a redten mac code --but if you contact a new provider in advance and explain the situation then they may connect you quicker than normal. BT retail will do it almost right away but not advertising for them as bit too expensive for my taste ( and budget ) It is BT wholesale that breach your line and they normally just deal with wholesale resellers.

I got a MAC code from BT, they told me it was valid until 4/4. Either they were lying at that point or they decided to forget my MAC code and disconnect me without telling me. This all happened after the walled garden page disappeared and the time ran out on the original MAC code.

I did not get this letter but heh ho; I would want a definiton of what full broadband service was before I would take this at face value. Note the message came from clode and not Red Ten? the company is called redten communications ltd----but then again there is actually another company called Red Ten --with a different registered logo ( thinks thats also dormant at present )

Thanks for this firstclassidiot. I've been out all day, and am just catching up with all today's postings.

Funny how when it suits them, Clode can associate themselves with the supply of broadband - when I rang up yesterday I spent 15 minutes going round in circles with one of their people who kept on trying to fob me off with the tale that my Agreement with Clode was just for the finance - nothing to do with broadband or any PC. I could tell her heart wasn't really in it, but she obviously had to toe the party line - together with keeping on telling me to contact Redten - if only!

Just so you know, I copied my Redten letters to Clode, and NJP, with a covering letter pointing out their relevant responsibilities as I saw them. They were also sent on 26th March and both were signed for on the 27th. I gave them all 5 working days to get their act together, and reinstate my unlimited broadband service - failing that I expected them to cancel my contract, and provide me with my MAC code.

Although today's events show that they are trying to put things right, the 15Gb service isn't what I signed up to - and as has been commented on by others - it's not a 15Gb download limit - they're now calling it a 'data transfer allowance' - ie uploads as well as downloads. When I recently hit the 5Gb cap, I checked and had 2.41Gb of Downloads but 3.14Gb of uploads - so I should possibly be halving this 15Gb to get a true picture of my 'unlimited' service - 7.5Gb a month?

And quite frankly, how can anyone have any confidence in this crowd anymore?

Where was the advance notice? Where was/is any real apology? How long until the next debacle?

How have todays events shown they are trying to put things right? have I missed something?

I for one have no confidence now with this lot and just want out. the 5Gb limit and slow speeds were just the start, if it wasnt for this maybe we wouldn't have ever found out about the FREE pc not being Free anymore and all the other bits and pieces that have occured over the past few days. due to the BT terminaton we have all found out how bad this lot are.

Redten/Clode should hang their heads in shame the way they have treated people these last few weeks.
