methinks he misunderstands --we paid upfront for always on unlimited

appear to be using excessive? downloads and therefore may be
breaching fair use policy. ) one has to ask was their response to that
and is their response to that reasonable in cutting off everyone's access?
Doubt if too many companies and courts would agree with that.---
especially when compared to other providers for the same price
internet access. ( definition of broadband --always on fast internet

i still dont understand how anyone can breach a fair use policy that states redten automatically manages heavy users bandwidth during peak hours only.
to be honest the heavy users who signd up for unlimited broadband so they could use plenty of bandwidth are being made scapegoats.0 -

Red Ten Internet
We appreciate that you have been experiencing difficulties over recent weeks with your Broadband Access from Red Ten following the recent transfer of service from BT to NJP.
All parties have been working closely to resolve these issues and I pleased to confirm that agreement has been reached on the way forward and we expect full service to resume very shortly.
In addition to the provision of a full broadband service we also expect to see the launch of a new customer service line to help with any questions you may have.
I understand your frustration in this matter however I would ask you to bear with us for a short while longer as you can expect further detailed communications on the above in the next couple of days.
Regards

I did not get this letter but heh ho; I would want a definiton of what full broadband service was before I would take this at face value. Note the message came from clode and not Red Ten? the company is called redten communications ltd----but then again there is actually another company called Red Ten --with a different registered logo ( thinks thats also dormant at present )

Recorded delivery letter to redten was signed for the next day at the 23 Castalia Square
Docklands
London
E14 3NG address.
My complaint dates back to Jan, have written to clode and redten again today (recorded) providing copies of invoices, adverts etc and given a deadline of 14th april to be released from contract (3months after first complained) will have to wait and see what happens, and start small claims process if they dont release me from my contract without penalty.
If anyone wants a copy of the letter I sent (prob only useful if you are one of the other 38 customers who migrated using the limited BT mac given on the 11th) send me a private message.
Thanks to all other posters, this thread continues to be a very useful source of info and support in the absence of anything official!:rotfl:

Just found a lovely archive of redten web site from November 2006--
UP TO 8Mb BROADBANDOur broadband service is second to none. Utilising BT wholesale's award-winning £12billion
infrastructure, it’s not only capable of delivering download speeds of up to 8Mb, but starting from April
2007, will also support up to 24Mb downloads. As part of Redten Internet’s commitment to offering the
best level of service available, our members will automatically be upgraded for free. Unlike other
broadband providers, Redten Internet won’t limit your monthly downloads, and is available to a
whopping 99.5% of the UK population. To ensure you have the best connection possible, we're also
giving you the latest ADSL2+ modem - absolutely free.
It also has a flasher stating free up grade to 24mb speed.
On their website the 17.11.2006.

Have you got you alternate supplier online yet Benji?
No,
BT decided to cease my broadband line so I currently have no broadband. The cease order was due to come off yesterday so o2 are placing their order for my line today. I guess it's another couple of weeks away though?
BT really annoyed me, they gave me a MAC which is supposedly still valid until 4/4 and they also ceased my line without my permission. They happily admit that they ceased the line (not redten) but refuse to tell my why other than it's because Redten are no longer trading (which at the moment is untrue). After I got to that point they said they refuse to speak to customers as they only deal with ISPs so I should get my new ISP on the case.
10 minutes of arguing with o2 and they agreed to look into the matter and would get me broadband.
If anyone wants a laugh, phone up Tiscali and ask how fast their line is, they told me it's 8 megabytes. When I pointed out it was 8 megabits they told me I was wrong. Spoken to about 10 people who tell me that they're the same thing, just the way you pronouce it apparently. One advisor told me that it is 8 megabytes and therefore 8 times faster than any other line on adsl!
Manager refuses to tell me when all their staff will be giving out the correct info, told me to go to trading standards! According to one advisor they have been calling it 8 megabytes for the last 2 and a half years since she started!0 -
And if thats not enough___
Whatever the reason, one thing’s for certain: Redten Internet represents
outstanding value for money! It’s such good value, that without the full support
of all our partners, we simply couldn’t afford to offer it.
Sounds too good to be true, right?
Wrong.
At Redten Internet we don’t believe in ‘smoke and mirrors’, Britain is awash with broadband offers full of hidden
clauses or extras. We want to stand apart from all that, which is why we give you real reasons to believe in Redten
Internet.
Still think there has to be a catch? Then call us or e-mail us. Whatever your question we’ll be more than happy to
Reason 1 - The sheer quality of our offer. We’ve partnered with the most trusted names in Britain to deliver the best that
broadband and personal computing has to offer.
Reason 2 - Our vision is Britain online. Our group was a major force behind the former Home Computing Initiative
(HCI) - a Government-sponsored initiative to get all of Britain online. Its success proved too costly for ongoing
public funding, so the DTI is encouraging Redten to carry the flag forward.
Reason 3 - We’re open about our business model. Our intention is to earn your respect and trust so that you
choose to stay with us and to buy other IT and home electronics from us… but because you will never be obliged to
do so, we know we have to keep on delivering the right service at competitive prices. If we do things right we win
and you win, if we don’t you still win. Basically, you’ve got nothing to lose!
Still think there has to be a catch? Then call us or e-mail us. Whatever your question we’ll be more than happy to
answer it clearly and directly. We’re proud of our straight-talking, no-nonsense approach.

FREE LG REDTEN PC
Our free LG Redten PC offers everything you could want from a home/office computer. Not only is it great for accessing the internet, but with a 3GHz Intel Pentium 4 processor, 512MB Ram and a 160GB hard disk drive, it can handle the very latest games, entertainment, education and productivity titles. It has a DVD writer for storing and sharing photographs, movies, music and data; as well as a top-quality 19” LG LCD monitor, keyboard, LG optical mouse and stereo speakers . And as if that’s not enough, we’re also throwing in a 3-year parts-and-labour warranty (worth £100); 365-day telephone technical support; 90-day anti-virus, anti-spam and parental control software suite; and a free upgrade to Microsoft Windows Vista (also worth around £100). If you were to buy a similar-specification PC elsewhere it would cost you around £600 as a one-off payment, or over £20 per month over three years – more than we’re charging for our entire broadband and PC package!
