Hi guys, I have been reading all the comments that people have been posting now for a week or so and I thank you for them as they have been helpful, but I would like to inform you of a small investigation I have been doing since I have been re-connected last thursday. Through the fast4/members page I have been checking my bandwidth usage and connection logs. I was suprised at how quickly my usage was increasing considering I have restricted myself to just downloading virus updates and spy-ware updates and basic web viewing and my bandwidth usage is 3.5GB, so I have been checking the connection logs and noticed that most of my usage is when my PC at home is switched off. In a 1.5 hour period of my machine switched off and only my router switched on(secured wireless network, with no one stealing my connection) I allegedly had a combined (down/upload) usage of 1.3GB.
Anyone else noticed this?? Only way i can prevent this is to switch my router off.........comments anyone??
Also noticed that my download speed was restricted to 1.5MB during "peak hours"......................and I'm still under the 5GB cap

I too have been keeping an eye on those figures but, with pc off / router on, have not seen a problem. As far as I can see, the 'intrm' packet types are cumulative, so I wonder if you are misinterpreting the log?
Whatever, why on earth should we have to worry about this?!

I agree, is frustrating how I have had to change my internet habits to suit them, considering I am paying for something I can only partially use now!
Another point is I paid up front for the extra peripherals, such as printer, modem router, only thing is I got everything except the printer. I have paid in full for it and they are no longer supplying such equipment, whats my legal rights?

I too have emailed redten with a 5 day notification of breach of contract and will be sending registered written mail today, I will search back through the forum to find a good template.

I am livid with the inability to contact redten at all!

Going by that log nothing has moved at all during the night the 183mb is what you have used so far.

I can see your point there colderuk, but the problem is that the figures are incremental, they all add to the total!!
  • I have an always on connection but the connection is broken several times in the 24 hours.

My usage speed is weird, it is at its best at 7am to 10am in the morning and during peak times, usually over 6m/s then at about 10 or 11pm at night it drops dramatically to 1.7m/s or thereabouts and stays at the lower level until the morning again.

I have now tried to watch inspector lynley 6 or 7 seven times but it gets cut out when I reach about half way through. Thats about 45mins video streaming and I have not reached the 5GB limit.

I have just about had it with them. This is taking too much time and stress having to adjust my life to their inadequacy.

Right snorker - What that is saying is you have had total bandwith usage of 183mb over the 55 hrs.

That sounds a bit more realistic I would guess??
