    Hi folks, just revisited their website offers and their about us page has disappeared and been replaced --no longer showing their contact details and more importantly their address.

    that has to be meaningful.

    I just had a look at the redten website and it's still the same

    2. Is anyone requesting MAC codes tommorow? If so from NPJ or RT?

    If anyone is ringing RT, NPJ or CLODE tommorow please post the outcome in this forum so we can keep up to date!

    3. To the moderators; if I wanted to setup a mailing list to discuss a campaign aganist RT how could I word my request to ask people in this forum to join it without falling foul of forum rules?

    Its early days people. I hope RT see sense and remove the cap this week. However, like many of you I need the internet on a daily basis and may well migrate. Am just worried RT and NPJ wont give me a MAC code until mid april OR (even worse) refer me to RT who are not known for answering the phones promptly / if at all.

    Whats the law on MAC codes? Do isp's HAVE TO provide them? If so within what time frame?

    A MAC is a unique code, identifying a particular line. Where the MAC process does apply, the process to switch works as follows:
    • you must first contact your existing service provider and ask them for a MAC. You should not ask for your service to be stopped;
    • your existing service provider will provide the MAC to you within five working days. The MAC is valid for a period of 30 days from the date it is issued;
    • you should then present the MAC to your gaining provider you want to switch to. Your gaining provider will then process the request and inform you of the transfer date;
    • you should find out from your gaining provider whether there is likely to be any downtime or loss of service during the transfer process.

    I have requested my MAC i sent the email Friday informing them they have 5 days to send it to myself i seeing as its easter i will give them until to Friday to respond if not i will ask OFCOM to deal with them.
