I also suggest that seeing as MSE isn't the platform for what we need to discuss that we need a web-site set up elsewhere so we can discuss IT. It should probably be viewable to registered users only and be owned by someone who is also doing IT. Obviously this is only when we decide we need to do IT but worth having set up so that we can switch when the time comes.

Suggest any further mentions of IT here should be called IT or THAT? We know what we're talking about.

I assume posts aren't going to be deleted if I say how do we feel now about IT?

any posts that are deemed to be promoting class action would be removed as would any mention of the new site you are setting up, I assume

it's not just this thread by the way where this is being apllied

However, please do remember, board guides don't read every post

it is a long thread and posts may have been missed

So there's something wrong with suggesting that we get Watchdog involved rather than go to the papers? This is nothing to do with legal action, just a tv program!

Ok, so how do we go about moving to a site where we would be allowed to talk about what we might need to do? I understand you don't want people leaving this site and that's fair enough but what would be set up would not be in competition with this site, mearly allowing us to continue this discussion if it's not allowed here.

I think we need to agree on a site to continue this debate and ask permission to post the link so that we can continue with this discussion. I have asked permission at another site which will provide us with a place to freely talk about our problem until the point where we need to take it to the next stage. When we do we need a leader and a site owned by the leader preferably.

RTs fair usage policy is a direct copy from tiscali's site, it does seem to be one of the fairest usage policies similar to what we had before

    http://www.tiscali.co.uk/products/broadband/fair-usage-policy.html?code=ZZ-NL-11XY

if intending to switch any suggestions as to who to go with, i dont want any restrictions or want to pay extortionate prices, i do alot of web developing for work so will use a fair bit of bandwidth as will my family

any one know if be is any good or any better suggestions?
  • RE-READ OF REDTEN TRMS AND CONDITIONS:

In version two of red tens terms issued about jan 07.

The conditions of their being able to transfer the service and if not as good are:

They give us 14 days notice and then it is transferrred.
Following that transfer, if we are not satisfied we must give them 10 days notice, following the 14 days, of leaving and the reasons.

If we take their notice from them as beginning when we received the letter or the start of the NJS service as notice, say 18th March, this gives us a date of 11.4.2008, which co-incides with note on NJP site meaning we cannot leave under the contract until that date.

This also means that we must be able to give notice by 1.4.2008 of a failure or detrimental change in the contract such as to be able to leave within the contract and without penality other than returning the PC.

It appears that the PC has to be returned at our expense according to the contract, though that could be deemed an unfair term.

I gave them 5 days to respond which gives me precisely 2 days to give my notice. Those terms and how they have been executed have to be unreasonable.

I am now going to email my MP; as firm is in England, am emailing UK MP Gordon Brown.

Will let you know how I get on.

I want to say thank youu to all the posters here, their discussions have been very valuable to me as a newbie to the discussion forum concept.

I would be interested in any other forums that posters might think I would find interesting; interests are IT techie, shopping, travel, politics

Be have won the awards this year for fastest most reliable service. O2 use their network for their broadband.

My friend is with Talk Talk on their 40GB package and has not been capped or charged over though he is on all day everyday downloading 8m/s and says speed always up and reliable. It looks like they will be bought out by Tiscali this year.

I thought of the orange all in package but they have been getting terrible write ups re customers.

BT still too expensive but probably the most reliable, they still have control of the line so may bite the bullet.
