Things have not worked out. New owners are returning him tomorrow. He is too "high energy" for them. Back to square one I guess...............
Oh no. When I saw the thread was top, my heart sank.

I wouldn't part with my bundle of problems now, although he is a pain in the proverbial. See the Walking off lead thread for some idea. But in the days when I would have, my idea was the same as yours, get him adopted from my home.

Luckily I tried walking him with a couple who adopt old and sick dogs, they have about five at one time. True Saints IMHO.

They strongly advised against doing it for various reasons, and they were so kind as to my problems, (if he is making your life a misery and you can't bond, let him go,)

The main problem being, the dog may be brought back. Tied to your gate post even. Plus you can't vet a new home etc.

Far better he is adopted from neutral territory and preferably by a rescue.

You say you know of a rescue who would allow adoption from a foster home? Try them first, and see what they say.
    If no joy, PM me.

Do you know, I spent most of the last two days a sobbing wreck, it was only today that I woke up and felt good about the whole situation, relieved that I had done the right thing by him...... Now I am going to have to go through it all again, even if I only end up keeping him for another few days!

I'm speaking to the lady on dogspages, she is interested but about 60 miles away and already has a dog so I want to take him down there to make sure they get on. Failing that I think BADAW will help.

    ARG :(:(:(:(:(:(
  • awww poor bailey they didn't even give him a fair chance they are out of order.

It gets worse......... just received a text off the new owner, she wants to keep him for another few days as she might be changing her mind. Told her to think about it overnight and make a decision tomorrow as I do not want to mess the other lady around.

You could not make this up!

They are messing you around as well as new potential owners, but most of all they are messing poor Bailey around.Utterly confusing for him.Just shows the mentality of some people and how they regard dogs as disposable.I know you are tempted to return him but i would be inclined to see how he gets on with the people who have offered him a home 60 miles away and make your own judgement on them first.Otherwise you will be in the same situation in another weeks time.

The very best of luck. You must be tearing your hair out.You are truly a wonderful person to care so much what happens to him.

Just received another text. They are returning him after all! Not sure I can do this again so will contact BADAW who assess and foster them first, unless someone closer to home turns up. Yep, I am tearing my hair out!

I`m so sad reading about poor Bailey :(

I hope that the other lady who is interested gives him more of a chance. A few days is not nearly enough for him to feel settled. More like a few months if the ones that we have taken in are anything to go by. The last two that we took had many problems which take time to overcome. If Bailey is just a little hyper most of it will be due to excitement and confusion poor little mite.

Just a thought but would keeping him and having a dog walker take him out each day be an option?

I`ve thought of him a lot these last few days and i have my fingers crossed for a happy ending for both of you x

Honestly...I can't believe what's been going on with Bailey. It's just nuts. How can he be expected to settle in such a short amount of time! I'm just shocked.
