Need a home for a small x breed - owner passed away

Hello
I have inherited a dog. Unfortunately, after a brief stay in hospital over Christmas/New Year (where I had agreed to take care of him temporarily) the dogs owner has sadly passed away.
I have posted this morning on dogpages ( http://www.dogpages.org.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=236334 ) Hope this is allowed, if not, feel free to remove it.
I was wondering if anyone else knew of any other rehoming forums.
I am not a pet owner myself so have no experiences of using those type of forums.
I did go on preloved but something about the adverts on there did not feel right.
If I could, I would have him myself but I cannot and I don't really want to have to take him to a rehoming centre or at worst the dog pound as I promised that I would find him a home should anything happen (which it obviously did
)
Thanks for looking.

It's not a forum, but have you considered contacting the Cinnamon Trust? They were set up to look after dogs while their owners were in hospital, or went into care homes, and I know they help with rehoming if an elderly person has had to go into full-time care. Given the circumstances you explained, they may be able to help. Also, some rescues will help with rehoming direct from the previous owners, or take dogs into foster care for rehoming, and if you search on the rescue section of Dogpages, you may be able to find a rescue near you - if they're featured on Dogpages, they will be reputable.
Also, if it's a dog of a specific breed, the Kennel Club has a list of breed rescues on their website - if you google "kennel club breed rescue" you should find the right pages.
For an extensive list of rescues, www.animalrescuers.co.uk has a large listings section, but they're not vetted, anyone can ask to have their rescue included.0 -
Lots of rescues here.

I might be wrong but I heard that the cinnamon trust only help people who remember them in their will.A dog with a behaviour problem needs help not punishment.0 -

Thank you for your suggestions I will look into them.
Unfortunately, I do not know what breed this dog is and neither did the owner! I think it may be x jack russle but know nothing about dogs.

I'm sure he'd be quickly identified on here if you posted a photo, there are lots of people that know about dogs on here
Edit: i just went to the link you posted and oh my gosh he's adorable! I would taken him on in a heart beat but I live with my mum and she refuses to get another dog, I hope you have a good solution to your situation soon0 -
Oh he is lovely - if my little man wasn't sick I'd take him on in a flash
If you have no luck anywhere else can I suggest Friends of the Animals. They have a northern branch (Lancs) and are lovely, friendly people.
We've adopted 2 dogs from them in the last 3 years and we have also fostered for them for few years and they were great when we had to rehome our puppy JR when Tix got sick and took a dislike to him.
Good luck!0 -
If you can then may I suggest having him nuetered while he is with you. It will make for a ''safer'' future for him and you can be sure he won't be the father of puppies that themselves end up homeless/in trouble.
He is very sweet and what a good friend you are to take care of him and find him a new home.0 -
Try Little Dog Rescue. As far as I know all their dogs go to foster homes rather than kennels. Sorry I cant do links but if you google it it should come up ok.
I hope you find somewhere soon before he gets too settled with you. Good Luck.0 -
He's gorgeous. Here's the link for The little dog rescue http://www.littledogrescue.co.uk/, you could also try The Refuge http://www.therefugeforums.org.uk/forums/, good luck in finding him a good home.0

Have you tried West Yorkshire dog rescue ,the dogs they take on are fostered into homes and given a full assessment before being placed in home checked homes ,I do know someone who would be interested but he would have to be good with cats and children ,do you know what he is like ?.0
