  • Hi all, this is my first time on here. I was wondering if it is possible to claim back charges from a bank that you have already closed the account with, due to high charges. I also live in N.Ireland and appreciate the advice for banks over here, thanks
  • Yes you can claim on closed accounts and have a look at the website linked to above with regard to claiming in NI.
  • Hi - just thought I`d post here to see if anyone else has ever had their first court date sent to them and they live in Northern Ireland?
I`ve got a date for a Decree for Assessment against Nationwide in March and this could turn out to be interesting!!!
Please let me know if you had one of these and how you got on...
  • Thanks Edinburghlass
I`m looking round for as much info as poss.Wonder what happened?
  • Does anyone know if any different regulations apply to banks based in n.ireland or does the same process that martin has outlined apply? There are differing time limits for england & scotland banks , so is the law any different in 'god's own country' ,as we like to call our little principality'!can anyone help?

i sent a letter my 3rd letter to ulster bank telling them that i was going to take them to court, i recieved their reply this morning, telling me that i am not getting my money back and this is the banks final response to me on this matter.

Do i fill in the on line court form or what do i do next?

    thanks

  • Can anyone help please? ....I have recently moved to Northern Ireland but still bank with Barclays with an English branch even though there are no branches for Barclays in NI. I want to reclaim charges from them but don't know if I can claim the full amount through the English courts (£4 000 approx)or am I bound by Northern Ireland law and can only claim a max of £2 000.

    Hi everyone,

I'm a beginner at this so here goes. My first question - has anyone out there been successful at reclaiming charges from the Bank of Ireland and who did you send the letters to in the bank. Secondly, i have a £200 overdraft facility on my account which i rarely have to use as my account is normally in credit. However, somtimes my account goes overdrawn by £20 - £30. When this happens i get charged an automatic maintenance fee of £8 as well as interest on the overdrawn amount and then they charge me for all my transactions for the previous three months which normally adds up to £30 - £40. I've never been overdrawn for more than a few days and never been overdrawn more than my overdraft limit of £200. These charges seem excessive to me can i claim them back?

    Thanks in advance,
    Rugrat
