I'm still waiting for the reply to my first letter - and the 40 days is almost up....
  • Only a couple of Ulster reclaims in this thread.
  • Hi All,

I am from Northern Ireland and although i did check in the normal forum for this i didnt see any.

Which Northern banks close your account after making a claim?

Also i have CC which may claim of as well.

    Barclaycard
    Capital One
    Morgan Stanley
    Monument

Does anyone know if these companies close your account after making a claim?

Also does making a claim affect your credit rating?

    Thanks

  • I live in Northern Ireland but am trying to claim back charges from Alliance & Leicester. Do I use Northern Ireland Small claims court or Englisg small claims court?
I have search article and forum but can't find the answer.
Also I am claiming on 2 accounts with A&L - total £4088 - should I split into two claims if Northern Ireland small claims court as they only allow up to £2K?
Can you take it to court other than small claims becuase of amount or is this risky?
Appreciate help from anyone on this.

    Thanks

  • Have a read of this website regarding NI and Scotland claims.

You can claim via the English court system if you have access to an English address.

  • hi
am in the middle of reclaiming charges of £749 fron BOI. Response to initial letter arrived 2 days after posting(!) offering "without prejudice " payment of £250 which I refused. I wrote template latter advising of my intention to proceed to small claims court if full amount not repaid within 7 days.

Reply by return post re-iterating £250 full and final offer. Am determined to take to small claims cout--has any one else had success???
  • I have been trying to reclaim money from the Ulster Bank sent first template letter got no reply, sent 2nd letter got a reply saying that this was there final response to my matter and no offer on the £3000 i am trying to reclaim if i wanted to take it any further i should seek the opinion of the financial ombudsman service.

    HELP
  • Hi all. Martin says that I can only reclaim a total of £2000 if I reside in Northern Ireland. My questions:

    1) - Does this mean £2000 per account or total amount reclaimable between all my potential claimants?
    2) - What if I can't remember the account number of a closed account I long since had but may still be liable for a payout from these lenders?
    3) - Are the form templates differently worded for N.I. claims and if so, where can I obtain these?

Many thanks in advance to all who can and do help me.

    Kind regards,

    Bob.

If you are claiming on two different accounts do them separately. If you don't know the account number of a closed account send them your name, relevant addresses and date of birth and they should be able to trace your account.

    Template letters are the same.
