I'm baaaaack!
Had a great holiday, Brazil is an amazing country and we had a really balanced view of it - spent time in both Rio and Sao Paolo, as well as out in the amazing wilderness. I'm not really a wildlife box ticker, but we saw:
Caiman (they are soooo cute! but I do come from a part of the world with REALLY big crocodiles!)
Capybara (lots and lots and lots!)
Agoutis
Giant anteater (from a distance)
Lesser anteater (quite close)
Giant River Otters
Jaguars (close enough to hear them purr... I am serious!!)
Anaconda (we were snorkelling in the river)
Howler monkeys
Capuchins
Hyacinth Macaws
Toucans
Jabiru
Rheas
Lots and lots and lots and lots of other birds... to many to remember!
I am taking this week off as I did a couple of extra weeks than I intended back in July / August. It is going to be VERY hard going back to work next week.
On the financial side of things, I did rather well :A my budget was £1000 per week  Brazil is rather expensive! and I came in just under that
On the non-MFW side, I think one of the cats is going to have to go to the vet - she is having incontinence problems and drinking LOTS... so probably needs an antibiotic - she gets chronic bladder infections.
Work has also not yet paid for my lodger. They are so annoying! I know I'll get paid eventually, but still!
I also put on weight while I'm away, so am having a serious think about strategies for reducing it. I'm having a trial with a personal trainer tomorrow... it would be expensive, but may be worth it for a short while if it gets me into better exercise habits?
Have just spent the better part of 3 hours reading through diaries... I churn through so much time on this site! Tilly's diary is the worst.... there was six or seven pages to read through, but I just can't skip any of it!Borrowed £150,000 in an offset tracker mortgage in May 2007 - MFD May 2041 (67)

Had a lucky escape from spending lots of money at the vet this afternoon. Appt was at 5pm, and at half four the wretched animal did a wee in the litter tray - as the main symptom is weeing outside the litter tray AND the vet would almost certainly want to take a urine sample, I rang the vet and asked if it was worth bringing her in, and they agreed it probably wasn't. Phew! It would have cost a at least £70, so she is currently in my MS good books.
Animals!!
Had lunch at a friend's place today, which was lovely. This is my last week of freedom before going back to work
On the bright side both yesterday and today have been NSDs. I need to order some things online, but refrained until tomorrow when I will need to buy a few bits of groceries anyway!
Am currently eating beans and courgettes from my garden. They took their time, but are finally producing. Now that the weather has turned they probably only have a couple of weeks left in them, but we'll see how much I get off them in the meantime. I have already frozen three courgettes. I forget how expensive pets can be! We currently self-insure a big ginger tom cat who stays with my wife's parents (complicated story) and I'm just thankful that he has approximately 900 lives0
