Stop tempting me to spend money, you bad bad people... We are all supposed to be going out for a post exam lash up next weekend ... And I literally don't have a thing to wear - especially as we are all at school for the full day! I might opt for linen trousers (brr if it is a day like today) and a toppy thing. While we are on the subject of weather - who ever has stolen summer - can they give it back please?

I know! I did get out into the garden and do some weeding out the front, which was desperately needed! Despite the iron-grey skies.
I have had a VERY productive day. I slow cooked a curry - 4 meals there, I then went to my yoga class, so positively angelic :A
Then I did the weeding, and I roasted a chicken. I had the breast and a wing today, and have kept the other breast and wing aside for tomorrow. I have stripped the carcass, and will use the rest of it for chicken pie :T
What I didn't strip, the cats have eaten for dinner, so that saves me a tin of tuna, all of about 70p, I should think
I cooked up some rice, 7 portions in total, and also made some kidney bean chilli for lunches, which should actually come close to 3 weeks worth, depending on how I eat it - it goes further in a wrap or pita bread.
So all in all, I am feeling rather chuffed!
The cats really have done a good job with that chicken carcass, I'm impressed!Borrowed £150,000 in an offset tracker mortgage in May 2007 - MFD May 2041 (67)

Ooowwww! I'm in pain
I helped out with my local conservation group today to clear the paths in my local wilderness area, and have got stung rather badly by nettles! Ow!
Am being incredibly spendy at the moment, but not really sure what I can do about it! When I am busy my thriftiness goes out the window and I just buy stuff! I buy a lot more lunches and snacks as I am not organised to take them to work with me, but for some reason I also just make spur of the moment decisions to buy stuff, particularly food.
I'm very good at not letting stuff go to waste, but it doesn't change the fact that I am still spending money I don't really need to. Aaaaargh!!
Anyway, moan over, I think I shall go and have a cool shower and spend some time in the garden relaxing.
I hope everyone is enjoying this glorious weather!Borrowed £150,000 in an offset tracker mortgage in May 2007 - MFD May 2041 (67)

Is vinegar good for nettle stings?
I'm now facing the downside of glorious sunshine for a week, a mountain of ironing :rotfl:
Even though the stuff on the line is bone dry I can't face bringing it in as I have just ironed for an hour and nearly reduced the pile to zero
So on that note I'm going to sit outside and watch itMortgage Aug 12 £165K, Aug 19 £0

Well, apparently they are acidic, so in fact basic liquids are good - that is, washing your hands in plain old fashioned soap!
But vinegar is mentioned as a remedy, but that makes no sense as vinegar is acidic (I think).
To be hones they are too far gone for anything to work except time!
Enjoy watching your washing!!Borrowed £150,000 in an offset tracker mortgage in May 2007 - MFD May 2041 (67)

Well this week has been a vast improvement!
I have only spent £35, of which £11 was snacky things (although it includes my dinner before my Italian class).
I need to order some cat food today and that should be it. I have pimms, strawberries and mint to hand, and a small tin of sprite in the fridge which will do for my jubilee celebrations. I was going to go and watch the flotilla sail down the Thames, but I have a cold so am staying at home and watching it on TV. I really don't want to risk getting really sick as the next two weeks at work are absolutely crucial. If I don't put my all into them I run the risk of 6 months of work going to waste, which would be devastating.
Next week should also be reasonably thrifty, as I will be working from home tomorrow and Tuesday (which is extremely MSE, as I will be earning money!) and then there are just the three days at work.
Then the week after is a normal 5 day week, and then I'm on holidays for 3 weeks. Yippee!!
I hope everyone else is enjoying their jubilee weekend, despite the weather!Borrowed £150,000 in an offset tracker mortgage in May 2007 - MFD May 2041 (67)

Well, it's been an expensive week, but that is because Mr S sent me a free delivery voucher if I spent over £50, so I stocked up on household items which were running low. I also spent quite a bit of money buying bunting and jubilee decorations for the mock street party the Italian kids will have next week (NEXT WEEK!!!!!!) when I am in Italy. I'll get reimbursed for those.
I went and picked up my Olympic Volunteer uniform today. It meant an early start (well, for a weekend!) to get to East London, and then it took longer than I had really expected, so I cancelled my therapy session.
I think it will grow on me, and it does seem like it will be very comfortable, although typical me - I think I will have problems with the trainers!
I have been very tired as I've been working so hard, but I perked up this afternoon and did a bit of gardening. I have to do a half day of work tomorrow, but I am going to sleep in as long as possible first, and then I have a bit of Italian homework to do. At some point I need to think about what I want to take to Italy with me <sigh> I can see myself packing at midnight on Friday, and taking the stupidest things with me because I can't think straight!
I have antsthe little critters are crawling randomly around my house. I have googled what to do about them, but it isn't going to happen while I'm away, and my cat-sitter is a buddhist and vegetarian  so I'm not going to ask her to do anything either!
Hopefully my lodger won't mindBorrowed £150,000 in an offset tracker mortgage in May 2007 - MFD May 2041 (67)

Oh that did make me laugh! The idea of you chasing ants around in the house in your Olympic outfit and then asking a Buddhist vegetarian if she could exterminate or eat them!
Have a great time in Italy! :beer:Overpay!0 -
Hiya, thanks for posting on my diary, I have read yours with interest, esp the gardening chat, and I used to live in sutton too!
Just looked in my little book of cleaning and it suggests to put a teaspoon of dishwashing liquid in a spray bottle of water and spray the ants when they trek into your kitchen. It worked this year when I found an army of them eating our cat's wet food!
Great progress with your offset btw.0
