lol... Italy is nice to visit, but I would hate to live there, too beauracratic!
I am quite pleased with myself as I had a long list of things to do and have managed to most of them, including decide on a wardrobe. I've had that decision on my mind for the last three weeks, but have found it very challenging to make up my mind. However I've gone for the good old swedish furniture company, and was able to design it very easily on line. I think the total budget including delivery and getting someone else to build it will be £750 which is very competitive with similar size wardrobes.
Well, after having a very cheap holiday, I have had an extremely expensive couple of days! I had to buy odds and sods of groceries, of course, and I've done a BIG online shop which is over £100, despite (or because of?) taking advantage of lots of bogofs and deals. I also got my hair cut and coloured, which was £85, not too bad given it was last done 9 months ago! And I also bought some double bed sheets for my lodger to use. That is also why I need to buy the wardrobe - I can't convert the office to a spare bedroom until I have a wardrobe to put stuff!
I hope everyone else is having a good weekendBorrowed £150,000 in an offset tracker mortgage in May 2007 - MFD May 2041 (67)

Just been to Ikea myself today and did see some lovely wardrobes in there especially some nice interiors they have certainly changed for the better over the years. I think it's money we'll spent as you will be earning it back with your lodger. When are they moving in? Hope you get it sorted in time.Save £12k in 25 No 49

After looking at wardrobes till my eyes bleed from price tags, we also bought wardrobes from IK recently and I'm actually very pleased, they look surprisingly nice!

Well, I have had a VERY expensive and busy couple of months, but I feel like I'm over the hump as the lodger has stayed two nights as a trial, and I passed! Yippee!!
I am so fortunate - because work is actually paying, I will be getting around £700 a month for him staying an average of 3 nights a week  But work is happy because it's still less than half of the hotel bills they have been paying for him.
However, the down side is I have spent nearly £1000 on getting everything ready, although that includes a new wardrobe, which I have needed for years - I had one of those open, extremely cheap clothes racks instead of a wardrobe.
I LOVE my wardrobe, it looks great, has heaps of room, and the mirror door makes the room seem lighter and larger, so you don't mind it takes up so much space. I am very pleased, although it was very stressful finding someone to put it together in time, and then get everything from the spare room into it.
I still have a little tidying up to do today, and then I will be all sorted!
The other thing that is adding stress (and expense!) to my life is that I have been dating again. I have met a couple of guys, but one turned out to be extremely depressed, so I have given him the boot in the nicest, most supportive way I possibly could. I am NOT going to get involved with someone with obvious problems, and I have enough issues in my own family without looking to take on any one elses!
The other guy is nice, seems normal, has had a couple of long term relationships which seem to have ended amicably, the last one because his girlfriend decided she wanted to volunteer work in the Maldives (!) and ended up deciding to settle there. On the downside he works all sorts of strange hours and, probably partly as a result, is really rather overweight... but we'll see how that goes.
eHa@rmony have a £30 for 3 months deal that closes today. I'm very tempted, Match really doesn't work for me, whereas two of my exes came from eH.
Work is manic. We're negotiating a big deal at the moment, and we're at the stage where things are stressful and very busy and I'm working quite long hours (although this week wasn't too bad, and I expect next week to positively relaxed because everyone is out on holiday!).
I have six weeks to go until my summer adventure begins! But I have to apply for a British passport so I can go to Brazil without a visa, and that takes six weeks at a minimum as it is my first British passport. Part of the process has involved sending them my Australian passport, and I am a bit stressed that I won't get it back before I need to fly to Italy.
If I don't hear from them by Thur or Fri next week I will ring them.
I hope everyone is well and has a great bank holiday.... despite all this rain!!
btw, I decided this year that I wouldn't do much in the garden because of being away so much and because of the drought. I am SO glad I made that decision, because everything I have planted (beans and courgettes) is drowning and has made NO progressBorrowed £150,000 in an offset tracker mortgage in May 2007 - MFD May 2041 (67)

Well, I have done lots of washing, which I am airing inside. I am treating myself to having the heating on today, as I'm cold and it's the only way the washing will get dry. We have a flash of sun at the moment, but it has been raining on and off all day, so hanging the washing out was out of the question.
I dried a load of sheets in the TD, it's justified as all my airers are in use and I have someone visiting me tomorrow and I''m busy on Monday, so today was really the only day to tackle the washing!
I'm going to have a little baby roast pork tonight, and I'll roast some parsnips and potatoes and carrots. Mmmmm. Forgot to get an onion, oh well!
I have also done this month's personal accounts (rather painful!) and my business accounts as my VAT return is due at the end of the year.
I hope everyone is getting the most out of their bank holiday!Borrowed £150,000 in an offset tracker mortgage in May 2007 - MFD May 2041 (67)

Well I have decided that once exams are over, and this Diploma is DONE, then I might give eHarmony another try.
I am getting constant spamming from match about people apparently adding me to their favourites, but I actually don't believe any of it as I think it's just a ploy to get me to log back in. For log-back-in, read update subs and right now I just want to get through this month and hopefully first month of self-employment paid and underway before I start thinking about throwing money about the place!
I have a classmate staying for over two weeks again - he stayed when we were both on placement and it kinda worked as we were both doing the same thing.
It's a bit more challenging this time as I am working from home a couple of days a week and there seems to be this thought that as I am not doing anything (!) I can have dinner waiting when he gets back.

Right now I don't NEED to consider letting out my room, and perhaps I need to think about whether I would really want to!- Mortgage @ March 2008: £194,965 ; Lightbulb Moment: July 2011: £164,926; End Date: March 2033

Well, I have a near perfect arrangement - David is only here a couple of days a week so I still get some evenings to myself and the weekends.
Wed nights I have Italian anyway, while Thurs nights I do an hour of yoga. We have an arrangement that if I provide his evening meal work will pay and extra £5 for the evening. That way he doesn't need to feel that he's imposing on me, but it also makes cooking more fun - I'm not a particularly creative cook when it's just for me.
The other bonus is that the first £4250 is tax free!
There are a couple of websites that lists Mon - Fri lodgers, so if / when you do think you might want a lodger, have a google.Borrowed £150,000 in an offset tracker mortgage in May 2007 - MFD May 2041 (67)

OK, so something very exciting has happened! I have just hung some washing on the line with every expectation that it will dry before it next rains!

:eek::eek::eek: Be very afraid :eek::eek::eek:. I said something similar a few weeks ago, and then was chuffed I'd got the grass cut as well.
