**Rant alert**
Well, as expected, the young man isn't going to the vet - in fact his owner has ordered me to stop keeping him in and feeding him, 'and if he goes missing I'll hold you responsible'...
She has also informed me it isn't an abscess. She is clearly a fool - I tell her her cat is ill and I am caring for him, she orders me to stop looking after him, and then tells me she will hold me responsible if he goes missing. Apparently she 'paid a lot of money to bring him home from spain'... I think she suspects me of wanting to steal him! Which is a bit bizarre considering she knows exactly where I live and the first time I found the poor lad shivering in the pouring rain outside the upstairs flat I rang her to say I'd found him!
Lois, thanks for telling me about your dog, I'm glad a trip to the vet isn't inevitable. Already the quantity of pus is greatly reduced as a result of the salt water baths, so I think I'll keep him in again tonight (if he decides to come back in as he's outside at the moment playing with his lady friend (!)) and then he can go outside tomorrow. I'll keep bathing his head twice a day and hope it clears up.
To clarify, the lady who lives upstairs was lovely, apologised that he has been hanging around my flat, explained why she was struggling to look after him herself, and thanked me for doing it instead. It is her sister who owns the poor creature, and who is, to be blunt, a nasty piece of work. Grrr
Anyway, sorry about the rant! The sister has upset me a bit, and I feel vaguely threatened, although heaven only knows what 'I'll hold you responsible' means!Borrowed £150,000 in an offset tracker mortgage in May 2007 - MFD May 2041 (67)

Poor cat! and awful owner!
My father 'adopted' the neighbour's cat as well. She would come in his garage to hang out and he will feed her and she goes back for night to the neighbor house so they have a secret relationship:rotfl:Debt: [STRIKE]-£77.299 74,209[/STRIKE]-£72,860 Projected MF date(age):[STRIKE]2044(63)[/STRIKE] 2029(48)

Well, this week has been much better, except that I bought lots of vitamins and have bought a replacement kindle (Amazon sell refurbished ones for £50).
We went and saw the diving at the Aquatics Centre on Friday - the building is amazing, although the diving wasn't that exciting - I'm glad I didn't get diving tickets in hindsight!
I have been doing surveys which gradually build up BA Frequent Flyer miles, and they paid out today, 2,000 points! So pleased. I always get screened out of the surveys that people do on here for cash, but these ones are much more business oriented, and you get a small number of points as a thank you even if you are screened out, so I have been quite successful, really.
I have found a new type of cat food that they seem to like. It's excellent value, and comes in small tetra paks, so that really reduces the waste (down from 3 tins a day to one tetra pak!!). It's called Feline Bozita if anyone is interested. It's a Swedish brand, so if you really want to treat puddy, you can feed them Reindeer!!
I should be down at my local wilderness area doing some conservation work, but I put some washing on and it's not finished yet - I want to hang it outside to dry. What a pain, I'm going to be at least half an hour late now!
Now that the fine weather is here I need to install the replacement cat flap. It won't be difficult, except for the fact I need to find a screwdriver! I think there is one in the garage, but what a pain to have to go and find it!
Isn't it silly the things that make something seem hard!

Yes, I made it no problems, Katsu. I was late, but so were a lot of other people. But the good thing about volunteering is that no one can get too annoyed if you are late!
I have had a fairly productive afternoon - I did another load of washing and hung it out. It isn't quite dry, and I've had to bring it in as the people over the back fence are burning off wood or something. It would have started getting dew damp soon, so it doesn't really matter.
I have also planted some seeds - inspired by people on here doing the same! I'm not going to do much vegetable wise this year as I will be away a lot in the crucial months of July and August. However I have planted some beans, courgette and some tomatoes. I will plant some winter veg later in the year.
I also washed my hair! It's very long at the moment, so it feels like a major effort. It desperately needs a trim as it's very dry with lots of split ends, but I don't have time to sort it out, not to mention that I hate how much it costs! I would like some highlights put through it, which makes it even more expensive!Borrowed £150,000 in an offset tracker mortgage in May 2007 - MFD May 2041 (67)

Hi Sepa, you could save costs by going to a local beauty college (but in my experience you would definitely save no time
). They might be glad to do highlights?

You have to watch out for courgettes - given time they will take over any available space:DDebt: [STRIKE]-£77.299 74,209[/STRIKE]-£72,860 Projected MF date(age):[STRIKE]2044(63)[/STRIKE] 2029(48)

I find courgettes are incredibly productive... and I get through them too. Last year I had 3 plants, which was too many. This year it will just be two.
I was having such a good month until this week, when I finally got my bathroom window repaired. It was £72 for a locksmith to get it open (it did require a LOT of effort) and to tell me he couldn't fix it (!). Then another £187 to get it actually fixed. But thanks to this site, I have the money, and am completely unstressed about it!
I have also ordered some lovely fence panels online. Just under £500... ouch! It's my own fault, I have expensive tastes. I ordered through Quidco at 2% cashback, so that will help.
My kitchen and bathroom floors are booked to be installed on the 16th, and my handyman is here screwing down all the loose floorboards as I type. I feel like I can see progress!
I went charity shopping and got three tops (good) and three books (naughty!) for £20. Went to Oxfam, which is an expensive charity shop, but of course still MUCH cheaper than the high street. I don't have enough casual clothes - most of mine are OK for work, but not really to wear at the pub or whatever. So I'm quite pleased, really.
Have finally definitively split up with bf... feeling fine, as it's been such a long process to get to this point, and think I will probably start internet dating sometime in the next couple of weeks. Phew!
