I also wondered if the shopping/internet dating where "coincidence"
Sounds like there is lots of DIY happening at the moment, and fab that is hasn't stressed you out, also better to plan these things then have to do an an emergency
How is the neighbours poorly cat, has the abscess cleared up?Mortgage Aug 12 £165K, Aug 19 £0

lol... I haven't signed up to the dating sites yet, but yes, one of the tops will be great for a date
I already have Match7ffinity membership, although I don't think I'll sign up again. I find eHarmony works best for me, although I have a friend who hates it! It's funny how different people can be.
The Casper's abscess cleared up very quickly - it took about 3 days of bathing it in salt water twice a day. He disappeared last weekend, so I assume that he's gone home. I miss him, but the cats are less stressed now he's gone.
I was positively angelic last night and did some mending! One of the tops has needed mending for well over a year :rotfl: while the trouser seam that was splitting has also been getting worse and worse for months, and the only thing that spurred me on to get out needle and thread was my manager commenting on a flash of thigh a week or two ago
I still have some buttons to sew on... I may or may not do them tonight. I've got two buttons that need to be sewn on my winter coat. It's really difficult to do them myself, and I find they come off much more quickly than if done professionally. However it costs £2.50 to get buttons sewn on at my local dry cleaners, so I'll sew these on the best I can and then if they come off too quickly I'll get them done professionally.
It will be next year now before I wear that coat again... Oooh, thought... I should probably get it dry cleaned anyway, might as well just get it all done at once. Hmmm.
I've just refilled my eco washing balls.... they've lasted at least 18 months, I would think, which is pretty good. Probably on a par with washing powder. The stain remover supplied with them is rubbish, but as my clothes are only ever lightly soiled I've barely had to use it. A lot of my stuff has gone grey, but it would anyway because of the hard London water. I think I might buy something to brighten the clothes and get some better stain remover, and maybe a small tub of washing powder for when I have very soiled clothes that I feel need a bit more umph.Borrowed £150,000 in an offset tracker mortgage in May 2007 - MFD May 2041 (67)

I might give eHarmony another try - I found match way too confusing when I went back to it for a month... but with exams, shorthand, work, skilling myself to give IT contracting another try... can someone invent a day doubler which allows us to squeeze 48 hours into 24?

Button sewing just a tip I think you are using the wrong thread it needs to be really strong stuff in particular if it's metal buttons as they rub into it and cuts it. You can get a kind of clear one it's plastic or something that works perfectly for metal an larger buttons. I would not pay £2.50 ouch. Cannot comment on the dating sites neve used one been with DH for 20 years since I was 20. Good luck though.Save £12k in 25 No 49

Would coating the thread in clear nail varnish add any benefit
I'm not sure if that is a top tip or something odd that has popped into my head :rotfl:Mortgage Aug 12 £165K, Aug 19 £0

Afraid I would pay £2.50 to save the risk of losing the button and the time it takes to keep re-sewing it. £2.50 once for years of good wear is worth it to me - guess that shows I am a very very poor sewer!Debt at highest: £8k. Debt Free 31/12/2009. Original MFD May 2036, MF Dec 2018.0

I find eHarmony has really worked for me, but I like to take things slowly, especially when it comes to online dating. The friend who hates eHarmony likes to get into conversations very quickly and is quite flirty, the complete opposite of me!
Just bought a dress... from a new petite designer, so want to give her a go, and it was also £35... I hope it looks good when I get it!
I agree with you about the thread and that I might as well spend the £2.50 on the buttons... it's just that when it is several buttons, it adds up!Borrowed £150,000 in an offset tracker mortgage in May 2007 - MFD May 2041 (67)

Could you try some soda crystals to soften the water and continue to use eco washing balls?MFW: Nov 2008 £156k, Jun 2015 £129k, Jun 2017 £114k.0

I read somewhere that when they actually did controlled randomised trials on the balls, they came out no different from just running the machine with nothing - no balls, no powder, just water. The reason why people like the balls is because nobody ever runs their machine with nothing, so nobody's aware of just how well modern washing machines can clean stuff with just water. So maybe you could save even more money and give that a try???? I must admit I haven't, but then my kids get their stuff so dirty that I really need powder!Starting again 13/4/19Home loan 1: £21,102.50 Home loan 2: £7,698.99Total owed: £28,801.49

Hello everyone, I've had a busy week so have LOTS of catching up to do on people's diaries. I'll get there!
I've just done my monthly accounts and am feeling rather please with myself. I was £72.61 under my living expenses budget this month, which is £625. Yay!
So including all the other bits and bobs including no council tax etc, my total OP this month is £588.13. Yippee!
I also have another milestone which is that I have sufficient savings in my offset account to bring the capital on which interest is being paid to below £100K. It won't stay that way for more than 3 months or so because that figures includes dividends to support me for the next few months and savings for my South America adventure, but it is quite satisfying nevertheless.Borrowed £150,000 in an offset tracker mortgage in May 2007 - MFD May 2041 (67)
