Hi Sepa, maybe now is when you should start playing a lovely piece of classical music - with the volume turned up.........

In all seriousness, so sorry to hear that you have had a disturbed weekend, noisy neighbours really can be very frustrating, but hopefully the relatives will be gone soon.

I like the sound of your nest, it reminded me of MacGirls proposed craft room - just somewhere to call your own.

Hope your week goes well, best wishes Tilly x

Oh dear. Flats without proper sound-proofing are a misery for all concerned - the people getting disturbed and the people trying to keep their children quiet and the children not understanding what the fuss is about and why they're being told off.

Hope the visitors go home soon!

I hated doing it, but I was so distressed, pretty much in tears over it. I really wish I had held out, I value my relationships with my neighbours. <sigh>

Aw, I really sympathise. Once the noise starts, you kind of "tune" into it and it gets incredibly annoying. Our neighbours have a front door that is battered and broken, so they slam it shut all the time and it's so irritating. My DH didn't notice it until I mentioned it, and now it drives him insane too!

Hopefully your extra neighbours will be gone soon though!
Great news on the mortgage statement though ! :T

    Hi Sepa

Just started reading your diary from the start and wanted to say how much I am enjoying it.
So sorry to hear about the noisy neighbours and your distress at having to mention it to them, but I'm sure you didn't offend them you sound very reasonable :)

Love the lunch club idea and your green fingered skills. I'm starting my first veg patch this year, so have subscribed so I can pick up tips!

Hi everyone, thanks for the positive messages. Lois, you're so right about the noise being really annoying once you've tuned into it! I now feel like I am noticing every knock and bang from upstairs when last week it just didn't worry me! Hopefully I'll stop being so sensitive soon.

Hi Macgirl, thanks for subscribing. I feel like I'm one big moan at the moment, so I'm pleasantly surprised you're enjoying my diary, lol!!

My green fingers will probably only get a light work out this year as I'm very busy with work, and will be away at crucial moments in July and August. I'll still have the raspberries (if they survive the work I need to do on the garden fence!) and will probably plant some tomatoes. Alternatively, I might grow winter veg - I tried this year, but left it too late to plant them out, so next year I might do it properly and sacrifice the summer veg.

I need to start thinking about it all soon so I can start ordering seeds etc. Yippee!!

It's been rather a sad this week as I found out a friend has passed away. It's not unexpected, as she had been battling melanoma for two years, but it was still upsetting. She was 6 months younger than I am.

So I had a quiet week. I was also very tired because I kept being woken up at 3am by the child upstairs. I've realised that it's been happening quite a lot, but I would assume it was 6am and not do anything about it. I have now invested in a heavier-duty pair of earplugs, which seems to have licked the problem.

I had my first training session for volunteering at the Olympics today. It was alright, better than I expected. I have my role-based training in a fortnight, so will be better equipped to answer questions about what I will be doing after that. Today was really just general orientation.

I did LOTS of batch cooking yesterday, having picked up some real bargains at my local Mr S. I think I probably got enough meat for 15 meals for just over £6!! I also cooked up some veggies into soup, so all in all a very productive day.

On the MS front, it wasn't a fantastic week. I only had one NSD, and spent just under £100 in total for what feels like not very much! However I did meet up with a friend for lunch, so that was lovely.

But if I average a spend of £100 per week, I am actually within my budget, so I can't complain!

I hope everyone else had a good MSE week.

Thanks guys. It is really, really, sad. She was a lovely person, and we lived together for 3 years about 10 years ago, and that forms a strong tie, even though we'd not really been much in touch since. And of course it's even more shocking when it's someone your own age. She is the first of my friends to pass away.

I heard on Wednesday, and that evening I put on the compilation album of our favourite music that we when we moved out of the house (there was 10 of us living in it!) and looked through my old photo albums. I think everyone else who lived with us did exactly the same thing!

I forgot to say earlier that I have semi-adopted a cat. He is being looked up by the people upstairs, but they leave him outside all the time... he seems happy enough, but I realised on Friday that it had been below 0 for several days, so there is probably no standing water around for him to drink. I let him on Friday evening, and sure enough the poor fellow was extremely thirsty. I've been letting him in whenever I'm home, and he has been shut in the spare room during the nights too. I'll keep him in overnight while it's still below 0, or until the people upstairs realise he should be inside in this cold weather!

My two cats are NOT impressed, needless to say!

Katsu, I really hope things go OK with your husband next week :) keep kicking and screaming until somebody does something, it's such a stupid situation! You must feel so ANGRY!
