Hi guys, thanks for all the kind words. I'm getting myself sorted before heading up to North London for Xmas with my friends before we head to NY on Monday.

I took yesterday off work, which has eased the strain a little, but I now have a slight head cold, which I am worried will turn into a very nasty head cold after six hours on the aeroplane on Monday :( I'm sitting over a bowl of steaming salt water with olbas, geranium and lavender oil in it as I type. Charming.

The boyfriend is in danger of becoming and ex again!! Not really, but he's in India for work and isn't coming home for Christmas. He had the most awful Christmas last year so I don't blame him, but I think he has been afraid to tell me (or even admit to himself) that he would rather be working than risk a repeat of last year.

Seeing the therapist helped - I am going out with him for the right reasons (ie I really do love him!) although when I don't hear from him for days at a time I do wonder, but then I see him again and spend time with him, and I think 'yeah, he is the one (or the nearest thing I'm likely to get to it!).

    Hi Lois,

Just wanted to thank you separately for your thoughtful post. I always said I wouldn't go down the single mother route for precisely the reasons you mention, but the old body-clock is starting to get the better of me... giving me Dutch courage, or something like it!

I'm going to see how things go in Jan and Feb and then see. I've got an appointment at a fertility clinic in Feb to discuss the options, and hopefully by then the b/f will be closer to making a decision about what he wants.

As always, what will be will be, but I really appreciate your support.

Merry Christmas, I hope you have a great day :)

    Hi everyone,

I had a fabulous time in NY, but I'm not going to tell you about it tonight, it's too late!

Hurdler, thanks for the Xmas wishes and the phone no... :kisses3:

    That's a friendly kiss, btw!!

I've had an adventurous day as a cat rescuer! I woke up this morning to loud meows coming from the balcony upstairs... the poor thing had obviously been there all night, so I caught it and put it in my spare room to keep it safe during the day while I rushed out to work.

I got home tonight and had my first proper look at it, and found it very conveniently had a collar with a tag and mobile no on it! I ring the mobile number to find it belongs to the sister of my upstairs neighbour, who is looking after it while her sister's house is being renovated! It got locked out overnight.

So a lot of stress and running about for nothing!

But at least I found its home.

Right.. I'm off to bed. I've spent all last evening and most of this evening reading diaries, and still haven't caught up! However it sounds like most people had a nice break, which is fabulous!

I'll write more on the weekend :)

    Hi Hurdler

Well, It's been an interesting weekend... more (bad) news on the bf front, but I don't want to go into it / bore you all with it now.

On the bright side, in the last week I have completed three articles for the online magazine I write for. Phew! The first two have been brewing for a couple of months, just never made it to paper (for want of a better word) while the third practically wrote itself.

That will go some way to making up for £600 I have spent since getting back in the country late Monday evening  Unfortunately we have to blame the moggies fare and square - I bought three months worth of food plus took Mika to the vet, which added up to just over £200. They are expensive critters... it's a good thing they purr so nicely!

My favourite online petite designer, Karen Gillam, sent her subscribers a voucher for 25% off her suit range, so I bought a gorgeous jacket which will look fantastic on me, I also bought a new top for work. It will come out of my clothes / household fund, so it's not a problem, but also adds nearly £200 to my weekly total!

My only NSD was Friday :(

I have redeemed myself partially today - I went to Lidl for my weekly grocery top up, and bought two airers to hang off the radiators in my bedroom so I am less likely to need to run the TD. I figure they will repay themselves by the end of the winter, if not sooner, and will be MUCH better for my carbon footprint!

I do find it hard to resist the temptation of just throwing all the wet washing in the TD, though. I'm fine in summer, as I poistively enjoy hanging washing on the line, but winter is a real challenge! I hate the feeling of living in a Chinese laundry!

I have been angelic his evening and cooked some red lentil soup. Lots of leftovers which will be put in containers and frozen for work lunches.

Well, I might head off and watch the rest of the Return of the King which I started watching yesterday. Have a good week, everyone!
