lol... I missed your post when you first made it, SSS... I do miss having someone in my life... the cats are great, but not quite the same!
I'm feeling a bit better, thanks for all the support
I had a head cold all the time I was working so hard, and in hindsight I should have taken it a bit easier... but then we wouldn't have got the contract signed! Very difficult when you've been working on something for over a year!
As a result my throat has been very painful, and every time I stepped foot outside the front door it gets worse! I worked from home all week, which has helped, and the doc has put me on antibiotics, which I don't think are doing anything!
I'm a bit nervous as I have an acupuncture appointment in the next village... I'm sure i'll be fine, but the throat still isn't 100% so I hope it doesn't make it worse.
On the bright side my quarterly mortgage statement has come through! I have updated my signature, and am very pleased to see the improvement. I've cut 9 months off the mortgage over the last three months, which is fab. This quarter's milestone is that I will be in my 50s when I get it paid off, and I was soooo close to getting into the 120Ks, but we'll have to celebrate that milestone next quarter.
My offset mortgage is really starting to work for me - even my bank admits it saved me £300 in interest over the quarter!
I hope everyone else has had a good MS couple of weeks!Borrowed £150,000 in an offset tracker mortgage in May 2007 - MFD May 2041 (67)

£300 interest saved in one quarter and reducing the term by 9 months - that's amazing
. I have an Offset mortgage too and can't wait to see my next statement (though I am no where near the amount of interest that you are saving
).

It wasn't just the saved interest reducing the term, I did manage some OPs too! But I think you only see a small benefit from the offset at the start, but it starts snowballing after a period of time. It's really important to either OP or keep saving regularly into the offset to get the full benefit.
I have an account of which all the household bills come out of, and anything left in it at the end of the month is effectively an OP... I do need to keep an eye on it to check the bills to make sure they don't slowly creep up on me, but so far the set up seems to be working.
I have just realised that I have finished paying off a sofa and chair that I purchased on 0% interest in Jan last year. Yippee!!
The people upstairs are driving me MAD at the moment. The girls boyfriend has moved in, and he is SO noisy! They have a 2 year old, and they play quite boisterously together so there is a constant stream of thumps, and today they had the TV on really loud, and then he was yelling over the top of it! I think the landlord has a plan to put in new carpet, so when she does I am going to pay her to put some top notch sound insulation in, I'm so sick of it!

Well I have had quite a good MS week up until yesterday, when a visit to the vet and a trip up to Peterborough to watch an ice hockey match have blown the budget.
I had 4 NSDs, although Thursday was also an expensive day because I bought cat food and more vitamins in B00ts and then found a deal on my shampoo and conditioner. But it will all get used up, so it's not a problem.
However the cat is fine, no insulin injections required. Hooray!!!! Another checkup in January to check she is continuing to lose weight, and hopefully she will be fine for a while longer.
The trip to Peterborough was with some work colleagues. We randomly chose to support the Peterborough Phantoms ice hockey team just for fun, so we went up and had saw their home game against Manchester last night. The won! Not bad for the team that is bottom of the league playing last years defending champions
I have spoken with the ex a couple of times this week. He would like to start emailing each other, but it got off to a bit of a disastrous start because of course all the pent-up emotions of the last few weeks came tumbling out, taking him completely by surprise. He wanted to start slowly and see where it led, but I see no point in that - we both know we care deeply enough about each other for a relationship to work, where it falls down is when difficult things happen and he can't cope. I don't want to waste the next couple of months emailing him to find out that nothing has changed and he dissapears on me the first time things get difficult.
It's much better for me to deal with some of the hard stuff now. I don't have much time to waste 'seeing where things go' - that's for when you are just getting to know someone, not when you've already gone out with them for a year.
So I have probably scared him off, but best to do that now rather than in the New Year, when I've fallen in love with him again, and it then takes another 6 months to get over him.Borrowed £150,000 in an offset tracker mortgage in May 2007 - MFD May 2041 (67)

Hi Sepa
Have stumbled upon your diary, but glad I did! I am only just saving for a deposit on a house, but will be buying alone - so it is inspirational to see someone else managing living costs and all that goes with it on their own. I love the sound of the garden! I also live in SW London, also single, so I can sympathise on most that you say. ((Won't be buying in London though, so will have a commute to face!)).
Just wanted to say hello and thank you for the inspiration & motivation to work towards my own place. xx0 -
Hi Ms London, I'm glad you enjoyed my diary. I actually live in outer London - in Sutton. You might find you can afford something out here? It's not exactly Wimbledon or Richmond, but it is still a very pleasant place to live, and is only half an hour into Victoria on the train.Borrowed £150,000 in an offset tracker mortgage in May 2007 - MFD May 2041 (67)

Oh, I've just had a disaster! Yet another leak into my bathroom from the upstairs flat. Into my newly renovated bathroom  I'm so upset
However, I've agreed with the tenant upstairs that I will write a letter to the landlord which she will forward.

Hi Sepa,
Just finished reading your diary and didn't want to read and run..
Sorry to hear about the leak, i can understand you being upset, i'd be seething. Will the landlord pays for repairs?
Hope you get it sorted soon xMortgage amount at 31/12/2011 £166,050 now £0 as at Sept 21 - 15yrs 4 months early.0 -
Thanks Shala. It's a council flat, so the responsibility for the repairs are split between the housing association (who are useless) and the landlord, who aren't useless, but who don't want to spend the money it would take to get the flat in a decent condition. Last time it leaked they got a plumber to sort it out, but I've had a bad leak into the kitchen, and this is the second leak into the bathroom. It never ends! They need to rip out the entire system, but strangely enough they don't want to do that!Borrowed £150,000 in an offset tracker mortgage in May 2007 - MFD May 2041 (67)
