Ha! I need to completely take back what I said about the amount I 'owe' myself being down to around £500. I was completely underestimating how much money still needed to come out of my account for my holiday in Jersey!

I spent all yesterday morning wrestling with my accounts. They are supremely complicated at the moment, what with bathroom spends, professional development spends and holiday spends all going on credit cards and then being paid out of my current account. I didn't go overdrawn, but it was a close run thing, and I DID go over my limit on my Am3x... they charged me a £12 fee, which I might try and get them to waive. Ouch!

Then this morning I did my business accounts... so I'm pretty much up to date with everything, but it's not the best way to spend your weekends!

I've decided I MUST get my weight down... I've decided to track it on Michelle's count down to Christmas challenge, it's going to be my only challenge as I'm finding things so touch at the moment. I'm going great guns, however... the app I've downloaded for my android phone is really helping. It's great because I can enter recipes into the phone and it calculates how many calories the recipe has, which is much better than having to select the nearest commercial product. The only problem is that I'm a 'creative' cook, rather than cooking out of recipe books, so I have to have the phone beside me while I cook, and even then I still sometimes forget ingredients I've thrown in!

It also shows you how many nutrients you have had in a day. For the 4 days I've used it, I've only had about 20% of the RDA for iron, so I'm wondering if that's why I'm feeling so tired? I've started taking a supplement. My calcium is also low, maybe I should get a calcium supplement too.

Still haven't spoken to Martin - he is definitely avoiding my calls. I am trying to decide whether to ring him at work tomorrow, or maybe just write a letter addressed to his work. Either way, it's just for me to achieve closure... and maybe help him get a little closure too :(

My tortie cat has just been sitting beside me on the arm of my chair, purring her little heart out. Thank goodness I have the puddies, they are such a comfort.

I hope everyone has a good MS week.

  • Oh boy! I thought people stopped doing that sort of thing once they left their 20's! This is why for the last few years I've been single - I just came to the conclusion that relationships aren't worth the grief and I'm much happier alone.

    Then again I'm a bit weird ;)

I'm really sorry to hear about the nonsense you're being put through. I find the waiting and not knowing to be the worst. Once I know where I stand I'm fine. I hope it gets better and you find someone a bit more responsive if that is what you are after.

Aww Sepa - sorry to hear that crummy end to things with the fella. Hope that your garden and !!!!! cat are keeping you happy!

We're starting to think about a new bathroom so thanks for the heads up on those fancy taps!

I can't remember what I wrote about the taps, but glad it helped!

Have formally split up with boyfriend... wanted to avoid doing it by text, but that is effectively how it happened! But to a certain extent it was his choice to, as he guessed when I asked him for his address.

Anyway, it's over, done and dusted, so will give myself a few months to mend the bruised heart, and then see where things go.

I have had a very good week - 3 NSDs (assuming I don't splurge on some chocolate this afternoon!!) and on one day I only spent 85p because I just missed a train and I was starving!

Today is quite significant from a MFW pov. I have just paid myself a dividend, and for the first time a portion of it isn't earmarked for anything :j

I have squashed the temptation to use it to install a wood-burning stove instead of my existing gas fire, and I think it should go into my OP virtual pot and officially come off the mortgage :D

    What do you think, guys?!

Big hug about the boyfriend, but glad you have some closure and not just suspicions that it wasn't going well.

Congratulations on the dividend. There will be others in the future that you can use for a stove. Pay this one of the mortgage and enjoy seeing that mortgage amount coming down, and the daily interest getting less. :D

Hi all, I hope everyone in the South has been enjoying this fabulous weather! I have to confess I splurged a little on a beautiful ceramic planter today and a lovely, fragrant yellow rose, so instead of going on an excursion to box hill, I'm going to stay at home tomorrow and get stuck into the garden and make it look as beautiful as possible for at least a few days until Autumn really strikes!

My tomatoes are finally ripening, and I've been enjoying the small ones in salads, but the big ones are really only suitable for cooking, unfortunately. I've got some tiny little yellow tomatoes just ripening, and I saved some seed today, so I'll plant them again next year and see how they go. I'm also letting one of my bean pods ripen, and will plant the seeds next year and see how well they grow.

If you're interested in seed saving, this site is great! http://www.realseeds.co.uk/seedsavinginfo.html

It has been a very busy (and expensive!) two weeks. Last weekend I had drinks for work, went to see an ice hockey match in Milton Keynes, and had lunch at Gordon R3ms3y's restaurant in Cl3aridg3s!! It was a lovely treat, but most definitely a treat!

This week I've been at a conference, which was fun.... and cheap as I was there as an official representative of the 'press' because of the writing work I do. Yippee!

Work is absolutely manic, as usual, so I am very glad to have a lazy weekend.

I am pleased to report that in September I had 7 NSDs, and a further 9 days where I spent a fiver or less. It was an expensive month, but I've now stocked up on cat food, which will be a relief for the puddies!

I spent £100 on eating out, but the rest of my food spend is only £80, so that's brilliant. I probably won't need to do another on-line shop until later in October, and possibly November.

I also decided to splurge a little bit (well, OK, rather a lot, actually) of my dividend on a trip to New York for New Year's Eve to celebrate a good friend's 30th B'day!!!! I'm so excited.

But don't worry, there will still be enough left in the divi to make a decent over payment :) I've been working as a contractor for 2 years now, and it's good to finally see the payback for having been brave enough to decide against another permie job when I was made redundant :)

I hope everyone else is having a great weekend!

Hi Everyone, I spent this beautiful day in the garden, which is now all neat and tidy, and I just wish it was spring so I can enjoy it for a bit longer!! This weather is very strange, so warm, and yet the sun is at such a steep angle that the light is still very soft and gentle, like you don't really see in high summer.

I do wish I had been able to go somewhere to see the autumn colours, but you can't do everything, and I'm so please with how much I got done in the garden. My big ceramic pots look beautiful!

Have a good MSE week, everyone.

I have had a shocking week! I have already managed to spend the same in the 1st week of October as I did in the entire month of September!

However, that does include my monthly travel card (£180  ) three second hand light shades for £40 (bargain!) and a slightly mad shopping spree in the Radley sale... I bought a purse (required), a passport holder (xmas pressie for mum) and a handbag (complete self indulgence and NOT required :o ). I also bought three calendars by a local artist as Xmas presents.

I haven't had a single NSD, and only took my lunch to work once

    Anyway.... in other news...

My neighbour thinks she saw a rat near my fence! She texted me asking what I had rotting in my yard  She's a bit of a self-admitted clean freak and is having a shocking time with some other neighbours who have dumped rubbish against her other fence so that it is at a 45 degree angle  I think she momentarily let her frustration with her other neighbours affect her attitude to me.

She's actually a very good neighbour, and we've just spent the morning weeding the common area and cleaning it up so the rat has no where to hide. But you can imagine I was pretty cross with her when she implied the rat was there because of my compost!

Made the mistake of ringing the ex last night. He didn't answer, but left a message this morning. I got quite depressed just hearing his voice on the voicemail... I haven't rung him back yet :(

    Silly me.

Anyway, I hope everyone else has had a good MSE week... or at least one better than mine! It's suddenly got to the expensive time of year, hasn't it!

  • Ooh new Radley! I have my eye on a bag but I'm hoping it gets reduced before I buy it :-)

Your neighbour sounds like one of mine. They often make comments about our garden and they have the neatest garden in the world. I just smile and nod :-)

Have a nice rest of weekend!
