I'm probably going to get slated for this but isn't the main focus of MSE to save money for consumers? Judging by the posts on this thread, I would be so bold as to suggest that most people who called received a deal, in fact, it seems people have even called today and have still received deals. At some point, the offer of a deal will end, regardless of whether or not its listed in this week's email. :)

My guess is that due to the huge circulation of the email (rather than the relatively low readership of this thread) that SKY will wise up very quickly and start cutting the deals almost straight away.

So what happens when EVERYONE holds out? Then they just get bombarded in a month or so instead? Your "advice" isn't quite so logical as you seem to think!

    Still, another comedy post....

I see you had a good deal :rotfl: lmao
  • I donnt know whats going on here its only common sence what Jarr is saying. Wait and phone when you think the time is right if your not successful try again. You cannt blame anybody for failure. I waited until a Wednesday morning first thing because the new quota of offers are handed out on that day. Thats what I did but not everybody will follow suit its just the luck of the draw as to whether you are lucky. Just do it.

Sky are coming to install a new Sky + box for us this week. The leter says we have to have the phone line connected to the sky box to complete the install and to keep it connected. We have never done this , and wont , because of where the phone extension is. Is this really going to be an issue, as Sky have said this before and it never has been.
I dont want the engineer having a strop and going away without doing the installation

You do have to have a phone line they will cut you off if they detect there isn't one.
  • You do not have to have a phone line connected to Sky box - I don't - and they certainly do not disconnect you if you do not have one. I do not have one connected - never have - got Sky installed a year ago. I can connect a phone line if I want to order a movie or whatever but I certainly don't have one connected - have plugged one in once in the last year to order one - Engineer who came definitely said you only need one to order movies etc.so don't worry will be fine

    well said :T

  • I phoned two weeks ago and was given HD free for 6 months, saving me 10.25 a month, was happy with that, was informed that this would be automatic and therefore my bill would be less for January.
Checked my billing today and this discount hasn't been applied. Phoned Sky to query this and was informed that the lady who gave me this offer hadn't put it on my account and my account hadn't been accessed since before xmas!!
She said that she would have to put it through to Head Office who would check the call history for my account as they record all conversations so I informed her I would be happy for this and would await their call. Not sure what to do now!!
My Sky does cost me a fair bit so any discount is greatly appreciated, I have the full package (sky sports, sky movies and all the rest of the channels), sky broadband and sky telephone but then I only go out about twice a year, don't smoke and don't drink, I could live without the TV part I guess but not sure my 4 kids would agree with me ha ha.

Regardless though - I appreciate the OP who started this thread to inform us about these offers available, I hope to be able to save some money and put it to better use for my children.

hi you will need the phone line to complete the installation but that is it, i had an extension trailing over the living room to sky box, then when all was done disconnected it... as above post you only need this for box office/ordering etc.
dont let the installer tell you different, mine has been like this for errrr....10 years :rotfl::rotfl:
