just called , and was offered 25% off for 12 months so said no ty i will carry on with my cancellation, the lovely lady then said we can do 6 months with 50% , i said yes please , and could i had just paid this months bill , my feb bill is just for 69p ,
I might be stating the obvious (and apologies to you if I am) but 50% for 6 months is the same as 25% for 12.The Daily Mail

Monetarily speaking, yes, but taking the 50% off for 6 months means you can try to get the same deal again in 6 months. If this was successful then it would equate to an actual twice-fold saving over taking the 25% off for 12 months offer.0 -
Thanks OP I just got the same deal as above by ringing cancellations.0

From reading this thread it would seem so - I'm in the same position as you with the 12 months free HD and half price SKY package deal (what a great deal that was!) and have 6 weeks left on the contract. Plan to ring in a couple of weeks time within the cancellation period of at least a month to avoid having to pay a further month at full price.
As I can't get the free SKY broadband in my area due to a bundled exchange (whatever that means!) I'm also going to consider a freesat box instead of SKY which you can just replace your SKY box with, use the existing sat dish and not pay any subs. You can record pause and rewind as with SKY+ and there's loads of channels. Some of the more expensive boxes also play DVDs and record from the saved hard drive which is very handy.
A standard box is £200 and the dvd version around £350 upwards which you'd soon recoup against SKY subs.
May mention this idea when I ring to cancel!
good luck everyone and thanks for your tips - will let you know how I get on.0 -

Oh Blimey, of course you do !! If you entered into a 12 month contract, you agreed to pay the price for 12 months (or pay a cancellation fee if you cancel before 12 months).
They are hardly going to offer you a discount 6 months in, when they have already got you committed to a specific price.
3 weeks or so before the end of the contract, ring to ask what your price will be after the contract ends. Thats the time to negotiate.I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say.0 -
