I have just come off the phone to sky and they have offered me nothing. I moved house in July 2010 but unknown to me when they fitted my HD box they have put me on a new 12 month contract and I am now tied into it. They are not willing to reduce my payments any even though I told them I was made redundant and couldnt afford the £34 a month I am currently paying.

PS meant to say, I was paying £52 but have spoken to them already about removing parts of the package as it was becoming too expensive and not watching the movies so much etc, and they reduced it by 20% til the summer, which I was pleased with. Have now read all this thread and well done for getting half price, that's really awesome! didnt think to go to cancellations as was looking to downgrade

bummer, thats a shame! guess if you are tied into contract they won't budge, :( hopefully in the summer you can get something back, if you go through to cancel it?

    Thanks op

Just reduced my bill from @ £75 per month to @ £30 per month and I have also cancelled my HD subs.

Called the normal sky number 08442414141 (free if you have sky phone line) then option 4 and option 4 again. Said I was wanting to cancel my whole sky account and was offered 1/2 price for 6 months then said to remove HD as my HD tv was no longer working ( a wee lie) but saved me another £10.00 per month.

Hmm, I was genuinely going to cancel my Sky TV as I realised we only really watch the freeview channels anyway, but it could be worth going for a deal. I believe I get a discount as we have TV, unlimited broadband, line rental and phone calls with Sky (and have had for about 3 years) but it could be worth shopping round for better deals on all of these as I pay Sky £90 a month, I've just been lazy!

Thanks for this. I appreciate that retention offers are available all the time but this post definitely helped! I've called up before trying to get the HD rate a little cheaper but it hasn't worked.

I don't have Sports or Movies, I just have HD with about 4 mixes I think, which costs £31.75 a month.

After being put through to cancellations eventually, they quite quickly offered me 50% off for 6 months or 25% off for 12 months. HD is added on seperately, so now I'm paying £21 a month for 6 months. Oddly my next bill will be £11?!

She said that I should call back in 6 months to see if another offer is available, even putting a note on my account to that effect. I have signed up for a further 12 months though, however at the end of the day I wouldn't actually cancel anyway!
