For the record if I know people who want to do any of this I go to their houses and pretend to be them. Basically you think beforehand what you want and more or less tell them. 9 times out of 10 you'll have it. My TV, phone and broadband are all low due to haggling. Sky are easy.

just to clarify, i phoned to cancel mine, didnt want to cancel just wanted a deal, but cos i wasnt the named person, i could do everything else but cancel lol - i have a password too. even tho my husband has left and cannot get hold of him and payment goes through my bank lol. so u cannot cancel if you phone yourself.

well i just rang and they offered me NOWT! lol oh well worth a try :)

Did you ask to be put through to the Cancellations Dept or are you still in contract?

In the very rare circumstances you are offered nothing when wanting to cancel, still go ahead and cancel anyway since you've still got a month's viewing (as you've got to give a month's notice to cancel). If you are still not offering anying via post/telephone begging you to come back within the following four weeks you can always telephone them back and say you've changed your mind and your viewing should not be interupted.

Just tried to get a saving on my subscription - a no go I'm afraid. Could only offer downgrading the sports for a month as it takes 31 days before we loss that service, but advised to phone up again on day 30 to say we changed our mind - meaning a saving over 1 month of £20 - told them we would think about it
    Every days a School day!

my half price deal with free HD (what a deal that was!) runs out in about 6 weeks - I was thinking of cancelling the films because I never watch them and seem to watch only a handful of channels. I'm now wondering if i too could get another deal - should i ring now to cancel or wait till its only a month to go?
thanks to everyone on this very helpful thread :T
