hi everyone, i have the full package + hd+ multiroom, have rang a couple of times saying cant really afford it and always get told no offers, if it does go right through to them cancelling it can i ring up after a couple of days and say ive changed my mind or will i lose the channels for a while - really dont want to lose my sky?
Oh did get the free hd box and 12 months free hd but have never been offered half price or anything
Thanks0 -
i've been with sky about a month now, and I really want to add sky sports, but not at the £20.25 price tag. What are the chances of me phoning up and getting it for half price etc ?!
Once you start paying bills regularly, you are in a better position.
Took sky Sep 2010 - got that offer, then, just before Christmas got movies & sports added half price for 3 months - I have managed to carry it on ever since.0 -

You really have to take the bull by the horns with this. You have to go through to cancellations and say you want to cancel as you can't afford it. I said that I had been cut down to a 3 day week and needed to cut down my outgoings. That's when I find they start to offer you a deal. In the past when I've just phoned and said I'm thinking about cancelling, are their any deals? they have usually said no.My OH looked at me in shock when I did it as he was worried we would lose our sky but you can "change your mind" the day before cancellation if it goes that far. On my first phonecall as soon as I mentioned my 3 day week I was offered 25% off, which I know isnt as good as 50% but I was happy:)Beware!!!! Glitching is addictive:rotfl:0 -

After a 10 minute wait (glad I'm not paying for that, thanks Mr Murdock) got through to the Scottish call centre and was told that as there was 8 days still left till my 6 month half price offer ends, I can't be offered anything else.
So I asked to cancel "why do you want to cancel?"....
Well, because if I ring up in 8 days then ask to be given a special deal and you don't give me one, then I was going to cancel anyway, so I might as well do it now, so I don't have to be on the phone for another 15 minutes then.
"ah yes, but if your account has a cancellation on it, then you can't be offered any deals"
Well for one thing, I can live without sky tv thankyou very much and for another, it's never stopped you ringing me up and offering me deals before!!
LOL

I recently phoned 1 month before my 6 months half price deal ended and asked to cancel. The guy said their were no deals flagged on my account so I canceled sub.
The next day I phoned again to ask for a deal and was told by a very efficient girl that deals are only put on individual accounts when the deal you are on finishes. So it seems you have to phone up when a deal is finished. You will of course risk having to pay 1 month of full price due to the 30day cancellation clause.
She also said that deals are not put on canceled accounts. She canceled my cancellation and gave me another 6 months half price.0 -

Just out of curiosity, if you cancel Sky, then say after 1 month decide to go back, are you a "new customer" and qualify for all the offers which seem to be available to new customers.0

What are my chances of getting any kind of deal if I ask to upgrade to HD, BB Unlimited with line rental and multiroom? Do they only give you deals if you threaten to cancel because of financial hardship? ...I'd be hard pressed to make a case for this given my above wishlist!!0

After posting on here at 11.11, I thought sod it, and contacted Sky. I spoke to a very polite young lady in Glasgow and came away with a 6 month half price deal. Now watching Test match.
Takes me past Christmas, absolutely delighted.0 -
In answer to most people on here, you really do have to ring, threaten, cancel, maybe call back, etc until you get the result that suits YOU best. For instance, I wouldn't settle for only 25% off for 12 months - I'd push for the 50% off for 6 months. For long-term customers, push even harder. Tell them the deal you WILL move to with Virgin. This is how I got the deal I did by playing one of against the other. Fair enough I don't get Sky Atlantic, but I now get 20MB ulimited BB, unlimited Calls, phone line rental, a 500GB Tivo HD box with every channel possible in HD, a V+box in the other room with full HD on it, ESPN of course because I'm with Virgin and for the grand sum of £77 a month.
Keep persisting, tell them about deals you've seen elsewhere and make them sure they know you mean business. I actually cancelled and didn't get that offer until about a week after giving my 30 days notice. Even at the end of the call he wanted £50 for the Tivo box but said "you chose, I give you £50 for box and you don't get me for 12 months, or I don't, and you do!". I then also got an extra £1 off per month just before he put the phone down because I'm cheeky
Good luck everyone, and remember, DO NOT settle for what the offer unless it suits you!I am firmly across the line. I won't impose my values on you if you keep away from mine.
