The only ones I've found that work well are the microwave flapjacks that someone posted. Same results every time - as long as you let them cool properly! Will see if I can find the thread..

I use that non-stick sheet that you can get in morrisons, lakeland. You lline the tin with it and the flapjack justs slips out
the sheet and be used again and again
We don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.

I have stopped buying greaseproof and now using 'baking parchment' to line tins for everything, most things just slide off and you can use it again...but I think that flapjacks are a different game, in my experience, must try again soon

  • make sure you set the oven to 165-75. any higher and the sugar will harden when they're done. i just made some baked at 175 for 10 mins and 165 for 10. lovely and chewy.

High, I did a few experimants and came up with this which always works for me:

    80g brown sugar
    40 g butter
    60g marg
    250g oats
    1 mashed banana
    pinch salt
    2 tbsp honey
I often add a few tbsp of crushed seed (pumkin, sesame etc) too

Melt butter and marg, add sugar and honey, add outs, add salt, mash banana and add with seeds if using. Bake in preheatded oven at 220 for 15mins, stand for a couple of mins then score. Cool and cut into squares.

With the banana and optional seeds, these are energy packed and nutritious too!

I cook mine in muffin cases(not cake cases), although sometimes they completely stick. I find the best way is if you just melt the butter/sugar/syrup a bit, not too much, and then dont overcook in the oven, then they can come out nice.

Samsampotts - that's interesting - no mention of syrup in your recipe, perhaps that makes a difference? Will give it a try, they sound delicious!

I get good results with most things I cook but flapjacks are a problem to me - if the edges are cooked nicely the middle tends to be underdone and crumbly and if the middle is properly cooked the edges are overdone.
Had good results with Thriftlady's recipe but then another time they fell apart!

Samsampotts I tried your recipe this afternoon with excellent results Thank you! (But I have a fan oven and cooked at 190 deg for 25 mins). I'll certainly be using this recipe again.
