We made some this week. Greased the tray well, and got most out.
I think the trick is definitely grease-proof paper (had run out), so that it can just be peeled off. What's he building in there???
Debt at highest £30,450 (Dec 05)
Debt at lowest £9, 113 (Jul 07)
How much did we over spend whilst on maternity leave :mad:0 -
The last time I made them the greaseproof paper stuck and I had to chip it off! I think they are just awkward sometimes.0

i like flapjack... keep trying though, the experiments can be quite tasty. Any pics?0

Dunno but would more butter and less syrup be a start? The ones I get from Makro are really lovely but soft and come out of the foil tray easily (disposable foil trays might be the answer then) so just thought they might have more butter in them to make them soft rather than the syrup which would make them hard but impossible to chip out.0

I have just used the disposable trays this week and found they didnt harden as well. I always make sure I mix it well and leave it in the tin to cool but I do prefer them when you can cut into evenly sized bars and not odd shaped crumbs!0 -
I have now tried to remove them from the cake bases and I now have a large box of granola type crumbs.
Why
Me too! Great with milk for breakfast though!!
I haven't found the answer to successful flapjacks either - it's so disheartening when they look so lovely in the tin and then as soon as you try to get them out it's just one big mess (even if it is a tasty mess!!).0 -
I have found that they break up if you try to get them out when still hot and when completely cool, but if you time it so they are just a bit warm they come out much better.
Worth a try maybe?0 -
Great with yoghurt, ice cream, stewed fruit as instant crumble....0

I think flapjacks and gingerbread are the most temeramental things ever! The same recipes just seem to present a whole myriad of results. Its obviously due to minute differences in quantities, cooking time or temp - I wish I knew what!
Sorry I can't give any advice - I'm always as puzzled as you as to the variations, but I'll be watching this thread with interest.0
