OMG !
Simply Divine
My recipe was
150 Grams Butter ( Tesco Value )
75 Grams Sugar
250 Grams Porridge Oats ( Tesco Value )
125 Grams Golden Syrup ( Tesco Value )
I cooked them at 175 in a fan assisted oven for about 15 mins, the top was slightly brown and they were bubbling in the middle, left them to cool for 10 mins and then scored them, theyve now hardened and im left with the sweetest gooiest flapjacks known to man with a lovely crunchy top !
Feels very pleased ( and it makes up for the choclate cake disaster earlier ! )*Spendi*

LOL with my DD they didnt last long enough to coolhave managed to salvage a couple of pieces to take to my Nan in hospital later - didnt want to take flowers because the ward is full of them. Thanks for the advice, will have another try later on in the week. I put some tropical dried fruit mix in and the one little bit that I managed to get tasted lovely

DH loves flapjacks so I made Nigella's flapjacks. Tasted fantastic but crumbled so much you couldn't cut them into decent shaped pieces. Where did I go wrong? Not cooked enough? Not pressed down enough? Please help.Punky x0

I had a similar problem with another flapjack recipe. I got round it by pressing down the mixture hard with the back of a knife before putting it in the oven and then marking out the pieces when they came out of the oven but not cutting them or removing them for another 5 mins so still warm. I smashed up my ones so they were even crumblier and made granola out of them so no waste there!!

Try this one which always works.

I couldn't cook flapjacks until I tried Thriftlady's recipe last weekend (thank you thriftlady!). they were divine, nice and soft but not crumbly (I had the same problem as you, I always use to make nice flapjack flavoured crumbly bits
). I think her recipe is floating about on the site somewhere still? I'm hopeless at links I'm afraid....!
I tried making them with dried cranberries last night- really nice and still came out perfect even though I was adding extra bulk in the form of new ingredients.Very excited to be marrying my partner in crime for the last 7 years in September 2012 :jNo longer a midlandsfairy... back living in the sunny south!0 -
ok I decided to make some museli flapjacks today.
Followed the recipe and put them in the oven. I don't have a square tray so I put them in a round cake tin.
I took then out of the oven, scored them and left them to cool.
I have now tried to remove them from the cake bases and I now have a large box of granola type crumbs.

Did you grease the tin? I find sometimes even if I really grease the tin they stick, I tend to line my tins with foil or greaseproof paper.0
