27hr is far too much since your last message at 25 hrs, unless you have the additional heat operating every day. What is the DHW temperature set at?
I will have to check what it is set at, again at the weekend. Should have checked when I was in there.business mortgage £0))''(+ Barclay's business kitchen loan £0=Total paid off was £96105 PPI claimed and received £13527

It is 29h today!!
Domestic hot water is set at 54oC. I am wondering if someone has been fiddling with the settings. What would you recommend hot water is set at?
I left the keys in the door a couple of weeks ago and the cottage guests could have changed settings. It is odd for it to be running an extra 2h per week. When it must have been ticking along at a lower level for a while. It has been in for 48 weeks.business mortgage £0))''(+ Barclay's business kitchen loan £0=Total paid off was £96105 PPI claimed and received £13527

DHW @ 54C is the maximum setting. I would suggest between 48-51C. Reason is the heat delta of 5C, therefore @ 54C, when it drops to 51.9C it reboosts to about 57C.
Check a couple of things for me, if you don't mind, as I can understand the add heat coming in if the compressor is running over an hour, as that is the countdown timer activating.
1) Press the heat button and give me the figure (it should be between 1-10)
2) Detail from level K2 menu 2.2.
3) Hold down the far right button for about 20secs, so you access the installer menu. Go into 5 and to 5.2. This is the electric heater and let me know the setting.
Other info required:
a) Room sensor influence
b) Average outside temps over last couple of weeks.
c) Readings from menu 3 for GT8 + 9 and GT10 + 11 after pump is running for 15 mins on heating.
I may need you to give me a lot more info, if nothing appears too obvious from the above data. I have a REGO computer simulator that I can set up with your pump info.As Manuel says in Fawlty Towers: " I Know Nothing"0 -

I will need to wait for new cottage guests to give me access tomorrow. Yesterday I spent ages looking for a Rego simulator online as our installaer recommended I have a look at one.
Thanks for your help, it is appreciated.business mortgage £0))''(+ Barclay's business kitchen loan £0=Total paid off was £96105 PPI claimed and received £13527

If you PM me your email address, will send you the simulator file. It is available on the net, but only in Swedish and you cannot change the language. As Manuel says in Fawlty Towers: " I Know Nothing"0 -

Hi all,
I am in the process of planning a house in the Shetland isles and thinking about utilising a GSHP system for heating and DHW. My knowledge on this system is very limited so looking for advise in what will likely end up in various different areas.
- what type of land is best for the system, dry, wet, bog etc? The house site we have has 3 wells located near by, would I be able to utilise these somehow?
- which is the better system, horizontal trenches or bore hope?
- The house site is quite close to the North sea (less than 150 yards) can it be utilised in some way...?
- which would be best for GSHP's, UFH or radiators? Shetland weather is very unpredictable so it is not uncommon for the weather to be very cold at the height of summer.
- What are the primary problems encountered by GSHP's?
That's all I can think of at the moment,
Thanks in advance

Have read through this of what can go wrong and how it was fixed. Very interesting.

Brirfly what is shows that the ground array install is critical in achieving good performance. This and other stories show that as ground prep can be very expensive so you might as well consider boreholes in the first place...
Anyway must dash to work...0 -

Damp/wet soil conditions are the optimum, but all soil types can work. Wells could be used, but depth etc, may make them unviable.

Horizontal, if you have enough land, as faster and less expensive to install.
- The house site is quite close to the North sea (less than 150 yards) can it be utilised in some way...?
Would not consider it!

UHF as lower temperature required.
- What are the primary problems encountered by GSHP's?
Usually users forgetting to clean filters!! Badly trained/inexpierienced installers, resulting in poor setups. End user not told or demonstrated on how to use the system effectively.
That's all I can think of at the moment,
Thanks in advance

Had posted answer to original OP, before you added the above link. To be quite honest, it shows how incompetant many installers can be!! Have never seen or heard of a expansion tank collapse over here. Ground loops with us are pressure tested on each loop for 15mins @4 bar for leaks before backfill, then on final connection pressurised to 0.5-1.0.
Just reading the first couple of pages was enough, but will go through the whole in the next days.As Manuel says in Fawlty Towers: " I Know Nothing"0
