  • The step controller has a heat slope setting. This currently reads 6 and this is what the supplier has always asked me to refer to when doing diagnostics on the phone. Should these readings relate to the HP's? I get confused as to which is 'the boss' so to speak. Might need a steer on where to find that info on the HP's!

The readings would be on K2 menu 1.3 ( heat curve, adjust break) Need to know all the readings for each pump. Sorry it has got rather complicated.

  • Good morning,

    Both pumps read the same...

    Out 20. Curve 20
    Out 15. Curve 24

    Good morning to you.

You need to keep scrolling down in that menu, as it gives outputs down to -35C outside in 5degree reductions.

Thanks for that info. The curves are too low for the combined circuit. In the earlier post, you had the outside temp @ -27 and the pump trying to achieve 60C. This is confirmed in the above and also shows why the electrical back-up is so high.
    1. You need to get a new external sensor to give a correct reading.
    2. The installer needs to come out and adjust the temperature curves, as @ 0C the system is only trying to reach 36C, so no chance for the rads to get hot.
    3. I still believe that the system is well undersized for the heating requirement, as a full thermal analysis should have been carried out and not just an assumption of need.
    4. As the unit should still be under its guarantee, (we give 5 years on parts and labour here), you do need to get the installers back out to sort it, as a matter of urgency, plus question why they undersized by so much. as 10% is maximum recommended. You should also get some redress for the excessive energy bills

I have emailed one of our engineers to see if I can get some more answers, but it may take a while as we are very busy at this time of year!!

  • Brilliant and most helpful. This gives me just what I need to query them should I need to. Latest is that they have had an email from me threatening compliant to MCS and are due to respond today.

Thank you so much again its been a great help and I will let you know the outcome, perhaps we may get you over from Italy to replace it all!

It's no problem and sorry I could not be more positive on the installation. Please keep me updated as would like to hear the outcome!!

Just as a example, I have copied some data from the pump here, to give you a idea of performance. It is a 11kw HT+ running underfloor heating in 120 sq mtrs, low/medium insulated house, 250 years old with stone walls.
From 02/01/2012 to 14/01/2013 it has operated for 1943 hrs, so approx 5 hrs per day over the year. In the summer for DHW it rarely uses anything, and on average winter it would be about 12hrs daily, unless temps drop very low. Electrical backup is only 30hrs @ 3kw since original install of over 6 years.

I'm guessing the name of the company in question has a reference to frozen water in it.
If so then REAL and MCS are no strangers to them..... and they don't seem all that bothered from my experience :(

    Good luck
